You're brilliant! I think that's it. I'll re-read it to be sure. Thank you, Andria.(And, thank you for making me feel less crazy about mentioning the jar...)
Sorry. I hadn't realized someone else had commented too.Glad that's your book though. Happy Reading! 😊
The smallest-seeming detail is often the thing that helps a book be found. As soon as I read the bit about jars I was able to walk right to the shelf and find this book bc I remembered the cover :)

And Bridget! Thank you both. I didn't realize the answers came from two of you--but how great to have that extra confirmation. :> I am on a waitlist for it from the library and will re-read. Then, I'll let you know.
(And then I'll pass it on to a teen-friend who needs to read this. :> )
Ummmm...I don't know if I should create a new post or not. I think that I am thinking of TWO similar books. Awaken is certainly one of them. But, there must have been another. In it the protagonist (girl) is very concerned with her social status. It is generated by how many likes she gets and how many times she is mentioned online. She is perplexed to meet someone who tries not to every have his/her (I'm so confused now...) name mentioned online. (Could this be part of the Uglies series? It seems similar...but not quite the same. I might be confusing the hover cam paparazzi from one to the other...)
I have a teen friend who is very caught up in how many likes she has on social media. I'd love for her to read this...and hopefully see herself.
Hmmm.. Doesn't ring any bells with me. You'd probably have better luck if you start your own thread. Best of luck! ;)
Kate, thanks for asking. Yes, please start a new thread for each book. (This one is marked Solved, so people won't check it out.)

This book had a girl protagonist. In this world, social media presence determined status. The protagonist agonized over decisions to her online persona--that didn't really match her real life.
She met a boy who worked hard to have zero online presence. She went with him to illegal meetings where real experiences occurred.
There was a battle at the end...and, I think, something about jars...
TIA!
