Finished week 3: Black Rain. At first I wasn't sure about this book, but it turned out to be interesting. It had a good story to it and the writing was good.
Finished week 4: First Kill. This was an interest short story about an assassin. I liked how this kill was related to his first and how he got into this line of work.
Finished week 1: Sharp Objects. This was a dar, disturbing and interesting book. Its gets into the minds of the characters, especially the main character. You can see how the past effects what is going on now. As you read, you think things can't get worse and then they do. It keeps you reading.
Finished week 2: What Have You Done. I really enjoyed this book. It grabs you at the beginning and keeps you reading to figure out what is going on. The writing is easy to read and flows well so it adds even more to the story.
Finished week 11: A View to Die For. The writing did not really grab my attention and I didn't feel like I wanted to keep reading this book. The dog was not a special dog but was just a regular dog. There was no emotion or anything while reading this book.
Finished week 24: New Corpse In Town. This book was boring and did not hold my attention. It was a mystery and romance, but both aspects fell short.
Finished week 34: The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume II. I enjoyed the Sherlock Holmes stories.I found Holmes and Watson entertaining and some of their adventures were a little crazy.
Finished week 26: Deep Blue. This book was very enjoyable and entertaining. There is a lot that happens but it just keeps you reading until the end. There are many different things, there is romance and multiple mysteries that are happening in the story. It is well written and you feel like you are experiencing the adventure with the characters.
Finished week 25: Something Borrowed. This book was annoying and not enjoyable. The characters were not likable.
Finished week 7: The Girl on the Train. This was a little slow at times and a little repetitive, but it was still enjoyable.
Finished week 45: Little Women. This was okay but not very enjoyable. I liked the characters and that they all had their own story about growing up. This was for a younger audience and a cross between Gone with the Wind and Pride and Prejudice.
Finished week 39: Anne of Green Gables. I enjoyed this book as it was an interesting story. There were many good points in the book and it was great to read a story were, in their own ways, the characters helped each other.
Finished week 44: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's StoneHarry Potter. I enjoy the Harry Potter books. They are a good adventure that get more and more dangerous as the years go on. You can grow up with the characters.Finished week 46: The Reckless. This was a very enjoyable book. It is part of a series but can be read alone. There is the cop and family dynamic in the book, which I like. It was a very good and enjoyable book.
Finished week 28: The Winter Sister. This was a very good book about a sister trying to figure out what happened to her sister when she was a kid. There was a lot going on, but it was easy to keep track of and was easy to read.
Completed week 6: Slaughterhouse-Five. This was okay but not great and there were times I found the writing annoying. Saw this more as a character with a mental illness than an anti-war book.
Completed week 22:A Tale of Two Cities a book with a number in the title or on the cover. I enjoyed this book even though at times I was a little confused and it was hard to follow.
Completed 37: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. This is one my favorites in the series as the characters are starting to grow up a little and hit a rebellious stage. There is also a lot that goes on in this book and many important things.
Completed week 30 with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. I enjoyed this book. Everything starts to come together it this and you see how the little things in other books fit into the basic theme. It also sets up book 7.
Completed week 16: Dark Places. This was an interesting book. There are many twists and you cannot figure out what happened until the end. There are many moving pieces but it was easy to follow.
Completed week 42: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I really enjoy the way this book ties everything together, even from the previous books. There is a lot that going on and it is an interesting read.
Completed week 51: These Witches Don't Burn. This book was better than I expected. It was a quick easy book to read. For the most part, I liked the characters and you just want to know what happens.
Completed week 5: Brave New World. This books has interesting concepts as it is literally a new world that was created. Things are very different and I think the book focuses more on the world itself than the characters. Characters are mentioned and discussed and they do a few things, but the writing is more focused on the characters in this created world then anything they do. It is an interesting book.
completed week 8: The Woman in the Window. This book ended up being a lot better than I thought it was going to be. The way it was written, you find out a lot of things as you read and there are a few twists in the story. It was easy to read with the short chapters and it as just keeps you reading to figure out what is going on and what is going to happen.
Completed week 9: Cyber Countdown. This book was okay, but I didn't think it was great. It was confusing and a little hard to follow at times. There are a lot of different things going on and some of them come together at some point. This makes it a little more confusing. It was not broken up in an easy to read format, which I think would have helped. The story was entertaining, but I think different people focuses on to many things, which also make it slightly confusing. It was still entertaining.
Completed week 10: The Zookeeper's Wife. This book reads like a long essay about the Zabinski's and the Nazis. It was not very enjoyable and at times jumped around to include what someone wrote or said about was going on. That is what made it read like an essay. It was just sources but together to write the book.
completed week 14: The Zodiac Killer. This was an okay read. It was quick. There were a few times were it was a little confusing about what was going on and what was being referred to. It jumped around in a few places by they were not very important. This book set up the rest of the series so there was no real ending. I like when the book at least has some ending, even in a series and this just stops.
Completed week 17: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. I enjoyed this book. It was a good adventure book and there are a lot of things that comes back to this in the later books.
completed week 19: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. This is one of my favorites in this series. (view spoiler)
completed week 31: Little House in the Big Woods. This was entertaining. I enjoyed the family dynamic that exists and and you get to know the life style and the characters.
Completed week 32: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. This book is enjoyable and were is starts to pick up a little in the series. There are a few things that relate to this book.
Completed week 38: V for Vendetta. I enjoyed the story and the point of the story. However, I think it would have been better as an actual book, then as a graphic novel. This was the first graphic novel and its not for me. However, if you enjoy graphic novels, this is a good one.
Completed week 40: The Things We Do for Love. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this as I typically do not read books like this. However, it was a great story and goes to show you that things can happen in your life that you least expect and in some way, you can get what you want if you don't give up even if it is slightly different than what you expect. I liked the characters and found myself reading to find out what happens.
Completed week 48: To Kill a Mockingbird. This book is a great story. I like how it is told from the perspective of a child who is going through the experiences and trying to see how things are changing during this time period and seeing why changes should be made.
Completed week 49: Little Fires Everywhere. This was a very good story. There were a few parts where I had to stop to figure out whose perspective a paragraph was in, but it was still good. The title is very fitting as there were many things going on in the book as a mother and daughter effected an entire family and each had something going on.
Completed week 50: The Murder Artist. I found this was an enjoyable book. I liked how the father took it upon himself to find his sons and the length that he went to. (view spoiler)
Completed week 43: A Brief History of Time. This was okay. I don't have a science background and it has been years since I took a science class so there was a bit that I didn't understand and had to read a few times to try to get it. There are examples throughout the book to help try to explain certain concepts.
Completed week 15: Night Train to Lisbon. This was okay but I didn't think it was great. It was an interesting concept but it just felt lacking to me. It is almost like every other romance as it didn't really focus on the problems and how to fix them. They were just glossed over.
Completed week 27: All Quiet on the Western Front. This was an interesting book about a young soldier's experience in World War I. It really put you in the fighting and the experience he had in the war.
Completed week 36: Circe. I thought this was a good and well written book. It was a different perspective involving Greek myths. I liked that I could follow it without knowing a lot about the Greek myths.
Completed week 33: It. This book was entertaining and enjoyable. I liked how it had the story of what happened when the characters were kids and what happened when they were adults. It was very interesting and kept you reading to find out what will happen.
Completed week 21: Dracula. This was enjoyable and interesting, but I did not find it frightening. There are a lot of vampire stories out there today, so as this was the first, the stories today took the concepts of the vampire out this book, so you know things that come up without reading it. It is not horror as I see horror today. This was still interesting but different than I thought it would be.
Completed week 12: Three Weeks With My Brother This was a very enjoyable story. It liked how during the adventure of a lifetime, the author puts in how things reminded him of his past. He fit his life story into a current adventure and it was a very interesting book. Completed week 13: The Lost Girls. This book was different than I thought it was going to be, but it was very good. I liked how it had the story of the past and the present throughout the book. Things kept happening that you didn't expect. It was very enjoyable and entertaining.
Completed week 23: On the Banks of Plum Creek. This book was enjoyable and interesting. I liked how the girls are getting more responsibilities. There are always things happening and they work together to get through whatever comes their way.
Completed week 35: The Look-Alike. I received this from a Goodreads Giveaway. This was the first book I have read by the author and I will be reading more. This was a great paced book that has a good amount of past and present included in the story. There is a lot going on and many different theories about what happened in the past. It is hard to predict where the book is going and where it will end so you keep reading to find out.
Completed week 47: Down and Out in Paris and London. This was an interesting book that shows that hardship that people have to go through in life. It showing many things that can and do happen and trying to survive.
Completed week 18: Xenon Phobia. This book was strange as it occurred after the main character was murdered. It was not very enjoyable and I didn't like the characters.Completed week 29: By the Shores of Silver Lake. This was another interesting book in the series. It is another little adventure for the family and this time is a little different as a town is growing around them.
completed week 20: The Last of the Mohicans. This book was a little slow. There were times when it had more action in it, and the violence was described, but this didn't occur a lot and there wasn't really a lot happening in the book.
Completed week 41: From Lukov with Love. I enjoyed this book. I liked how it had a lot about the characters lives and did not just focus on one thing.
Completed week 52: Angels & Demons. I really enjoyed this book. It is fast-paced and just keeps you reading.
