Many of us are on the hunt to establish favorite narrators and even to find what books are now on audio.
Thank you to Kasia for the idea to have a place here in our group to discuss great audiobooks and narrators for Austenesque Lovers.

Feel free to announce new JAFF/Austenesque audiobook releases, favorite narrators or books on audio or audiobook giveaways here under the topic.

Anji | 735 comments I've posted this in the Promotion Place thread as well - belt and braces, you know!

For Audible members in the UK, their Daily Deal is their full cast adaptation of Emma for only £1.99. I listened to it last year and it was brilliant!

Don't know if Audible in the US has Daily Deals or if they're even the same. Worth checking, just in case.

I love this book and it has fond memories associated with it, too, as I was reading it (as part of the launch team) on my Austen trip to Hampshire in August 2017. I'll definitely be using one of my Audible credits on this one.

Yay, glad it's one you wanted. That's neat how it has associations with your recent Austen trip. :)

Mary Pagones I'm not a big audiobook person, but someone gave me the heads-up that these full-cast dramatizations were quite good, particularly of the less popular Mansfield Park, so I might check them out. I am a confirmed Mansfield Parker, so that's exciting for me! The Mansfield Park has David Tennant, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Jenny Agutter, and I believe the Emma has Eve Best and David Bamber in the cast:

Somewhat off-topic, I tend to prefer multiple voices when I do listen to any kind of audio dramatization, but that might be because I usually only listen to books with which I'm already familiar, and I'm primarily listening to hear the actors' interpretations.

Chelsea | 4 comments Mary, I listened to those a couple years ago and really enjoyed them! Hope you like them too 😊

I listened to them a couple of years ago, too. Heartily concur with Chelsea.

Mary Pagones Thanks, on your recommendation I now will definitely listen to them! I admit that I think, when they were younger, David and Benedict would have been wonderful playing Tom and Edmund Bertram in a BBC dramatization, but this is the next best thing!

Anji | 735 comments Fascinating interview with Stevie Zimmerman over at Austen Variations. She's absolutely one of THE best audiobook performers, particularly of Austenesque and North and South fiction.

Anji | 735 comments I don't know about in other countries, but Audible UK's daily deal today is Pride and Prejudice as performed by British actress Lindsay Duncan. A snip at £2.99! I haven't got this particular version myself but the reviews are good.

Will post in November's promotion thread, too.

Anji | 735 comments I'll do the belt and braces thing and post this here and in the November and December promotion threads, too.

Audible UK's daily deal for December 1st is David Copperfield. Yes, I know it's Dickens, but it IS performed by Richard Armitage!

Audible UK's Black Friday sale (ends tomorrow at 11.59pm UK time) has several Georgette Heyer audiobooks in it: Frederica, The Reluctant Widow and The Talisman Ring. Then, there's a performance of Northanger Abbey by actress Anna Massey; The Chimes (Dickens) another performance by Richard Armitage; Julian Fellowes's Belgravia, performed by Juliet Stevenson and several more titles by Dickens and George Eliot. All are £3 each - a bargain price for an audiobook in the UK.
