Self-help or memoir fiction? Sorry just clarifying.
So it has to be non-fiction but not biographical or self-help?

Sorry! My phone didn't reply to it and just posted a new post. Here is my answer :)
It just needs to be a book that is not classified as predominately fiction - the genres in the parenthesis were just examples of some other genres that could fit in or around that. It could range from anything. Poetry to a collection of letters or essays, comic book, graphic novel, fantasy, science fiction, etc. Basically, it could be a sub-genre of fiction, like with science fiction or historical, but cant be "fiction." If that makes sense. That obstacle is really just to get people reading other types of books rather than "fiction" since it is such a predominant genre. :)
Let me know if it doesn't and I can try to explain it better lol!

Yes! Ones a book picked from the archives and one can be a book from anywhere that coffee and books hasn’t read :)
I just wanted to announce a few things about the obstacles! I have updated the main post as well.
- For the genre other than fiction, if you choose poetry it can be less than the minimum 100 pages. Most poetry collections are less.
- For the read a graphic novel or comic, it can be less than the minimum 100 pages, as well.

The series needs to be more than 3 books? A four or more book series, so it can't be a trilogy?

Thank you for clarifying! In the obstacles description it states "more than three".
I made an adjustment to the Series section since it wasn't very clear and I am super sorry about that! Please see below!
2. Each member must read at least three books from a series, you must start and finish within the time frame of the games! This can be all different series for each person on the team, it just needs to be a series with at least three books. Note: You DO NOT have to start this challenge with book one of the series. For example, if you read Harry Potter you can had book there, four and five count for the "at least three books" - and just a hint, read a series with at least four books, use the first book to mark off the first obstacle, and the last three to mark off this obstacle ;-) This one is HARD so you get to add an additional 50 points to the team total, not just 10.

You DO NOT have to finish the obstacles as a team to get extra points. You can read books from the themed obstacles to push up your personal score. If the team chooses to finish an obstacle as an entire team, you will get an additional bonus fro finish an obstacle as a team along with all the personal points racked up by each member. If you have any questions about this please ask and I will be happy to clarify anything that doesn't make sense!
Some Hints + Tips
If you read an "obstacle book" you get TRIPLE points for your personal score. For Example- if you read a book that lands in an obstacle theme that is worth three points (a book that is over 1000+ pages) you will get NINE points for yourself and the team - not just three points!! If the book is worth one point, you will get three points instead of the one, and if it is worth 2 points, you will get 6 points instead of the two.
If the entire group finishes an obstacle read, you will earn an additional 10 points (unless otherwise stated below) and get to add that to the team total. Some obstacles require the entire group to read the same book, while others are free-range and anyone can read anything to get the extra bonus!
Books can only fit into ONE obstacle - so choose wisely :)
Teams cannot complete an obstacle more than once. Meaning, if you complete an obstacle, it is done, you cannot redo that obstacle for points again.
AND Remember!! Obstacle books are more points and is easier than you think to put in books for the obstacle!
Obstacles
- Seriously, series?
1. The first book of a series.
2. Each member must read at least three books from a series, you must start and finish within the time frame of the games! This can be all different series for each person on the team, it just needs to be a series with at least three books. Note: You DO NOT have to start this challenge with book one of the series. - Genre Based
1. A book from a genre you do not normally read from and CANNOT be a fiction novel - however, IT CAN BE a sub genre of fiction like Historical fiction and sic-fi, fantasy to others like poetry, memoirs, self-help, etc. If poetry is chosen, it can be under the 100 page minimum as most books are under that page length.
2. Read a Self-Help, or Personal Growth book
3. Read a comic book or graphic novel. This can also be under the 100 page minimum.
- Buddy System
1. Read a book recommended by another person participating in the games! (Team member has to be one that is participating in the race, but does not need to be on your team though!)
2. Team Read! Read a book as a group. This can be through the entire race and not everyone has to read it at the same time - JUST needs to be completed before the race ends to get the bonus.
- C&B Related
1. Read a book where the title starts with a letter in COFFEE AND BOOKS.
2. Each member must read a book as a group (same book!) from Coffee & Books archived BOTM's (hint: check out the groups bookshelf) - BOOK MUST BE FROM 2017 AND PAST (2018 DOES NOT COUNT)
