Jasmine looked over at Syannis. “We’re just headed tot the kitchen. Kaito here is lost, and I’m a little hungry myself. We could grab something to eat, then go out,” she said.
Kaito looked at Syannis. "I'm not allowed to leave castle grounds without direct orders to do so..." Kaito said. He didn't actually mind going outside, but he had been forbidden to leave the castle unless he had orders to do so. Even so, no one actually said who had to give the orders.
Kaito always liked finding loop holes in his orders. He wasn't exactly loyal to their father and he didn't necessarily like him, he was just the only one giving him orders at the moment.
Kaito always liked finding loop holes in his orders. He wasn't exactly loyal to their father and he didn't necessarily like him, he was just the only one giving him orders at the moment.
Jasmine walked into the kitchen area, and grabbed things off the shelves. “What are you hungry for Kaito?” She grabbed and apple and bit into it. She fluffed her skirt up after setting down the stiff she grabbed on the counter.
"An Apple!" Kaito hummed. He looked around the kitchen. It seemed as though he was far too late. While there were other maids in there, he did not see the one he wanted to talk to. He must have missed her. 'She's probably helping the king right now...' Kaito thought as he let out a sigh of disappointment.
((Oooooh Kaito has a crush!!))Jasmine nodded and grabbed another apple from the basket. She tosses it to him gently, and took another night of her own. She was quiet, as she was listening to the servants gossip. The gossip was usually just the everyday gossip, like the prince being seen with a girl. Today, it was different. There was talk about a rebellion in a nearby town. Jasmine listened closer.
Kaito caught the apple and went toward one of the maids that was cooking something. "Excuse me... have you seen Ms. Minami?" Kaito asked the maid. She thought for a moment before looking back at Kaito. "I can't say I have, I'm sorry." The maid said. "Sorry, Kaito." She appologized with a sad smile. "It's fine Rose." Kaito said, smiling kindly at her. He had always gotten along with the maids, seeing as he came in to help whenever he was free and they needed extra hands. He had especially been close to a maid that was around 3 years older than him. She was less serious than everyone and was always joking around. However, no one had seen her at all that day. Then there was the gossip about the rebellion. "She wouldn't be... No. Impossible. She's loyal to the king..." Kaito mumbled to himself.
((Btw, This Minami is one of my spies' identities. Her real name is Yuki and she works with the Rebellion, however Kaito is unaware of this.))

Jasmine be her lip. The news was worrying. The riot going on was dangerous, and it was against her father! Jasmine twirled the apple in her hand then grabbed Kaito. “We are going to the rebellion. We need to stop it, and make sure no one gets hurt. These are our people, and we need to care for them.” She straightened up. “Do you have clothes to change into that would be good for riding?”
"I do... But did you not hear what I said earlier? I can't leave the castle unless someone gave me orders to do so." Kaito said calmly as he looked at his sister. This was a huge problem with Kaito. He never did anything on his own accord unless given orders first. It was like he was a robot on standby.
Jasmine paused, thinking. Then she said “Prince Kaito, I order you to accompany me out of the castle.” She began to walk out of the kitchen, but turned back to Kaito. “Change into riding clothes, and meet me at the front gate.”Jasmine quickly went to her chambers and changed into her riding leather. She flipped the hood over her head, hiding her face, and swiftly went to the dorky gate to wait.
Kaito looked at Syannis as he passed him. "You coming with, Brother?" Kaito asked before rushing off to his chambers and putting on the outfit that he would wear when he would leave the castle with Minami without their father's acknowledgment. It was a pair of cloths that had apparently belonged to one of her younger brothers that was around Kaito's age when he had died. Conveniently, they fit and made him look like a normal person and not some prince. He made his way back toward the gate and saw Jasmine. "Should we wait for Syannis?" Kaito asked.
“Works for me.” He shrugged seeming to care about the delay despite all the thought in his head.He needed to get out, he needed to be their with the rebellion, he needed to help fuel the fire. He had already done a lot. Already helped as much as he could to prepare them now he had to keep up on his end of the bargain. However he couldn’t say anything about his role in this. He knew the strong loyalty Jasmine had for their father. And out of all his siblings he knew she would be the hardest to sway to his side. That didn’t mean he wouldn’t try. If his siblings were loyal to him or not he refused to let them die without at least trying, trying to show them the necessity behind what he was doing. He also knew his siblings might be his downfall. He wouldn’t, couldn’t bring himself to face the reality where he killed one of them. He would take a bullet for them, would rather be killed himself then have them killed or have to kill them. Syannis just hoped that that reality was never going to come true.
Syannis followed his younger siblings through the halls.
“Don’t worry little bro, I’m sure I can get you out the castle. I have been leaving on my own for many years now and haven’t once been caught,” he grinned ruffling his little brothers hair playfully.
It took only a few minutes to find their way to the kitchens. The whole way Syannis kept his ears out for news on the rebellion and kept an eye on his younger sister. He wasn’t fully trusting of her, he wanted to talk to Katio first before trying to talk to her. But that would happen all in due time, he had to be patient and wait for the right time. As for now they were all eating apples. He had gotten his for his horse, he hadn’t feed him any treats in a while and thought why not give him a snack before riding, but clearly that had to wait. However that also meant he had already been in the kitchen only moments ago. So he knew the word of the rebellion going around, and he also knew that jasmine would find out when going there. A fact he couldn’t stop, so he would have to ride the waves and see what happened.
Syannis lent against the wall, going back to repeatedly tossing the apple and catching it while he waited for something to happen. Like expected the gossip was all about the started rebellion and like expected Jasmine was all ears. As expected as soon as Jasmine processed what was happening she wanted to leave and help.
“Jaz I…” But he was cut off as she ordered Katio to come with her and ran out the room. Well, this shall be interesting Syannis thought drumming his fingers against his leg in thought. She was an added complication but he had planned for what to do if she came. He had specifically told the rebel leaders not to kill his siblings and only knock them out if damaged had to be done to them. He just had to hope that they held up on their word.
“Of course I coming,” Syannis said acting as if he agreed with Jasmines idea to help their father. He agreed to stop the death but he was done playing both sides.
I’m assuming you have a horse and can ride. If not you can ride Igby with me he can carry two. Meet you out front.” One last time he ruffled his brother hair, a small habit of his, before turned and dashing towards the stables.
It took only seconds for Syannis to saddle Igby and get him ready to ride, as well as feed him the long since promised snack. But even then he was slightly to slow, Jasmine and Kaito already waiting for him at the front gates. Syannis had also slipped a bow and quiver between his shoulder blades, a short sword on his hip a daggers one on the other side. Just in case things got rough. However he didn’t plan to spend to long out there. He was needed back at the castle as soon as he could but it would be suspicious not to go with his sister, especially now. He rounded the corner just as Katio asked where he was. Tugging the reigns, Syannis positioned his sleek black stallion to a stop right in front of his sister, who was also mounted on her own horse.
“You all good little bro?” he asked glancing down at Katio.
Syannis hadn’t seen him ride before He assumed, like himself, he was taught to ride but he wasn’t sure.
“Right if you both ready let’s go. I’ll lead, in case of trouble. Just… Don’t get yourselves killed in this ok. Or I swear to everything great in this world I will bring you back only so I can stab you myself.” He said knowing the stake of riding his own two siblings into this starting war he started. Especially when he wasn’t there to protect them.
Kaito nodded. One of the guards brought him a horse and Kaito said his thanks. He eyed the horse. It was the smallest horse they had available, but Kaito seemed to think it was still rather big. He was learning to ride a horse, but so far he's only actually learned to mount one without falling off or being thrown off and landing on his bum.
This was going a difficult ride. He mounted the horse and took a deep breath. He had to learn to ride one eventually, there was no running from it. After all, he had hoped that when and if his brother took the throne, he'd be able to train to be a knight or something of the sort. Being a knight meant he had to know how to ride a horse.
Kaito looked at his brother. He took the whole 'don't get killed' as an order rather than a warning. "Okay.." Kaito said quietly.

Jasmine had one of the guards bring her Aeris, her black horse. She was already saddled up, so Jasmine was able to get right on. She turned towards her siblings. “Are you ready? I knew the way, but it could get bad quick, and I don’t want the people to get hurt.” She didn’t wait for an answer, and dug her heels into Aeris’ side, and they galloped off. Her hair whipped around her face as the ran.
((Switch threats time?? BTW sorry this aint a great post i was being rushed when writing it.))Syannis kept an eye on his brother, he seemed almost scared, unsure of himself. So like always Syannis’s older brother instincts kicked in telling him to keep his younger brother safe. However he also had to keep an eye on his sister who seemed to confident for her own good. Despite saying he would go first Jasmine took off in front leaving them in the dust. Syannis sighed his mind churning as he was forced to prioritize. He couldn’t leave his brother behind but he was reluctant to let his sister go without him being he had no idea how well she could fight. However he also had to think about the rebellion and what promises and deals he made. Taking the strip of fabric off his wrist, Syannis pulled his long hair into ponytail while addressing his brother.
“Pull left the horse goes left pull right it goes right. Pull back it stops, tap it with your heels it goes faster. Scream at me if you need help and stop when I do. And don’t you dare go charging into the conflict alone,” Syannis said giving Kaito a quick rundown on how to use a horse.
After pointing everything out to his youngest brother, Syannis tapped its side launching Kaito forward after their sister. He waited just a moment to make sure his brother survived the sudden start before digging his heels into Igbys side and galloping after them.
Syannis sprinted past Kaito, giving him a reassuring smile as he passed. It wasn’t long before he saw Jasmine but couldn’t fully catch up. He could tell Igby was straining to keep that speed up and going any faster would break the poor horse.
“Jasmine! Jasmine slow it down!” He yelled against the wind.
He could see the town fast approaching, along with the sounds of the riot. So Syannis did the one thing he could think of. He pulled his bow from his back slipping an arrow into it, talking aim, and firing. As expected it flew short but did it’s job of giving Jasmine's horse a heart attack. He pulled up next to his sister dragging Igby in front of her horse to stop her going anywhere. Both horse’s protested greatly but he didn’t care, his sister was more important.
“For the love of gosh Jasmine please.” He said blowing out a slightly exasperated breath. “Are you even armed or do you plan to go in their, announce you are the princess and hope for the best?” He snapped surprised to hear the bitterness in his voice. He wasn’t usually so riled up, he almost never snapped at his siblings no matter how stubborn they were. However this whole plan of his was worrying him. What side would his siblings take? Would it go to plan? Would he even survive or will he be killed? Syannis hated the thought but knew it was possible. If he failed to kill his father the result of that would be death.
Taking a deep breath Syannis cast his eyes downward.
“Sorry. I’m sorry Jasmine but…” He unsheathed his short sword handing it to her hilt first. “Just take this stab anyone who comes near you and run cause I might not be there to help. Ok.” He said lifting his soft electric blue eyes to meet hers.
“Now go, do what you have to put please, I don’t wanna go to a funeral after this.” He said reversing Igby and letting his sister go. They had stopped on this hill above the town where the protest was present. He could see the crowds gathering, swarming. See the weapons being raised and hear the shouts and cries. Syannis hated it, but he wasn’t in change of how they fought. He told them what they needed to do, he had made it easier for them to achieve that but he couldn’t determine how the fought and if they played dirty. He had also said not to harm his sister, or any of his siblings but it wasn’t guaranteed they would listen. So he had to hope that Jasmine watched her back and didn’t get a sword driven through it. Syannis wanted to wait for his youngest brother and tamper with a few more things. He wasn’t needed down in the battle field.
Kaito finally caught up to Syannis. The horse stopped when Kaito pulled back and he let out a sigh of relief. After all that, he was definitely terrified of horses. He took a deep breath and looked at his brother. "So... Are you going to join the rebellion or are you going to keep worrying about Sis and I?" Kaito asked his brother.
((Right i'm gonna jump threads being they are technically at the Gallows even thought Syannis is still talking to Kaito))
Ulric wasn't a cook or a kitchen helper, but he found himself in the royal kitchens quite often. He found the kitchens to be a prime breeding ground for castle gossip. Servants weren't exactly allowed to chat when they were working, but with a few exceptions, the kitchen was the only safe place to rant, joke, and gossip. "Ah Ulric you're an angel!" an older maid had exclaimed when he entered, carrying boxes of market produce that would feed the castle for the day. Every day there were tons of food bought, prepared, and consumed for the royal family, while servants
"It's no trouble." He responded with a smile and a wink. A few cheeks reddened at the gesture.
"Have you had lunch yet? Have something!" The maid insisted, leading him to a wooden bench and table.
"Oh, thank you, you really don't have to" He said, but followed her anyways. Lunchtime at the kitchen was always very interesting.
Ulric smiled at the pretty maid sitting already. There were so many servants in the castle that few could keep track, but Ulric made a special effort to match names and faces as often as possible. He was almost certain her name was Alexis, but truthfully he wasn't completely sure. He received the plate of chicken from the older maid."Thank you darling." He said, shooting another smile. He started eating slowly, sneaking a look at the girl across from him and keeping his ears peeled for any kitchen gossip. "It's Alexis, right?" He asked.
"I'm Ulric." He said, extending his hand, and unfazed by her hand movements. He had heard about the maid that didn't speak, he didn't know it was Alexis, but he was aware of the rumors. (Which speaking of rumors, he caught something about a riot at the gallows from the kitchen background). Ulric knew some sign language, enough to hold a conversation at least, mostly because it seemed like a useful skill for a royal suitor, and that was all he had been focusing on recently. "Have you been working here for a long time? I have not seen you" He enunciated his words clearly, hoping she could understand him. He also hoped she wasn't new, because that would definitely decrease the appeal to talk to her. If he couldn't get information from her, what was the point? (view spoiler)
Ulric nodded, almost mirroring her. He continued taking bits of his chicken slowly, as to appear more interested in maintaining a conversation. She didn't appear very communicative, but Ulric was
Ulric was starting to get irritated at her lack of reaction to his compliments, but he had not risen in station without his calm temperament. He lowered the napkin that he offered, taking bites of his food, as if immensely interested in her job. "Ah, I see." He said before starting to chew a piece of chicken. "You probably know the castle very intimately, right?" He said once he'd finished. Ulric had grown up in the castle, he didn't need anybody to tell him where things were. What he was interested in was what she had seen, particularly in regard to the royal family. He couldn't have eyes everywhere, but maids and other servants usually served him well for those purposes.
((I wrote in one of the earlier posts that he knew sign language, enough to hold a conversation at least. He might be being too knowledgeable. Is it problematic, or why do you ask?))
Ulric nodded slowly, a smile forming on his face. He suddenly realized how young she looked. She may be years or months younger than him, but somehow Ulric saw her youth in her eyes. Her youth and maybe her naiveté. Ulric played around with his chicken, taking a pause before answering. He leaned forward, as if sharing something intimate with her. "Can you keep a secret?"She may not be interested in him as other maids were, but few could resist the charm of camaraderie.
Ulric's smile grew a little more at her answer. Even better than he expected, a friendless maid. Not only would she be longing for some companionship, Ulric had the suspicion this girl would go to great lengths to keep the few friendships she did have. Being friendly to her was slowly gaining importance in his mind. Ulric chuckled."Well, you read my mind," He quipped "My secret and your question have one sole answer." He paused, eating more of his food as to keep her in doubt. "I'm going to ask the King for his daughter's hand in marriage, you see," He spoke as this was something special that he never told anyone, even though that was far from true. But Alexis didn't need to know that. Ulric knew one of the key aspects of friendship was shared secrets. "And as prince, I have to be...a jack of all trades of sorts." He ended, jokingly.
