Anita (anitafajitapitareada) This November we're reading Binti (Binti #1) by Nnedi Okorafor. Another novella, Binti is a Sci Fi space opera that really manages to pack a punch in these 90 pages.

I hope everyone gets a chance to join us or maybe continue the series if they've already read the first one. TBH I went ahead and got all three books, which include Home (#2) and The Night Masquerade (#3).

So, who will read this, who has read this, what did you think of the book and the series?

Chessa (chessakat) | 81 comments I read the whole series over the last year (almost 2 years for Binti maybe?) I really enjoyed the series on the whole, but my space-loving heart enjoyed books 1 and 3 the most.

Kyle I just started reading it this morning on the bus. I'm intrigued. Quite a relevant storyline for our current climate. I'm looking forward to seeing where Okorafor takes it.

rin (rintroversion) I'm still reading Equal Rites (and a number of other books in parallel) but since I've now learned that it's pretty short I shall start Binti to be in sync! I found all three books in the series in a Kindle deal and I've enjoyed Who Fears Death so I'm looking forward to reading them. :)

Sara G | 46 comments I've read and enjoyed all three, some more than others. I'm excited for those of you who get to experience the series for the first time.

Kyle Finished it last night. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I’ll look for the rest of the series.

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) I love how rooted in mathematics Binti's world and culture is. I don't know that I've ever read something that is so sci-fi, yet gives me strong fantasy vibes. I'm blown away by how rich this book is.

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) Finished the first one. It was my second reading (I read it a couple years ago) and I actually upped my rating from 4 to 5 stars. I don't even know why I didn't give it 5 stars. I must've been stingy back then.

I absolutely loved the world building here. And in just 90 pages. I even felt like we missed out on so much (view spoiler) and my empathetic feeling of loss for Binti was much stronger this time. I can't state enough how amazing it is that we are brought so much culture - a new sci-fi world, math based cultures, aliens and diverse human interactions! - in just 90 pages.

I hope you all get a chance to read it. I honestly don't think anyone would be disappointed.

Very much looking forward to book 2

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) I recently finished the last (last?) book, The Night Masquerade. This was a 5 star series, imo. Every book had themes that ran much deeper than the main story, and I can't even believe how much is packed into each book. I think the longest one was maybe 200 pages. I hope you all enjoyed Binti and maybe were able to pick up the next book or two as well.

I agree completely! The series was crazy good in how much story and detail it packed into such short books! I absolutely loved it, and completely agree it was a 5 star series.
