Jenn | 3084 comments I'm finding that I am spending more time planning and re-planning every months reading plan as it is not contained in one online location. I think that this will keep me on-track, and cut down on flighty book selections, I am easily distracted by shiny things . . .
So, I hope this is alright . . .

Janice (jamasc) | 61914 comments How are you doing over in Ft Mac? Is it in the deep freeze like it is here? We've got -27C this morning. I was out shovelling my walk and 10 minutes was all I could handle. My friend is coming to help me finish.

message 10: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3084 comments About the same lol
It’s -26 right now with an 11 kph wind 🥶
But, I finished fixing the quads brakes, so plowing the driveway and sidewalk was much faster. I’m glad you’ve got help coming, especially having tweaked your back so recently. I think the weather is telling us to stay inside and read a good book 😊

message 11: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61914 comments I'm impressed. I'd be lost trying to fix brakes.

Probably a good idea to have something to read as it's not looking like the weather will improve any time soon

Janice (jamasc) | 61914 comments Holy smoke! And here I was patting myself on my back for reading 8 books in January. LOL!

message 32: by Jenn (last edited Mar 01, 2020 08:14AM) (new)

Jenn | 3084 comments I’m feeling a little queasy looking at the small library read in January, but I guess it was pretty slow in the office lol and For Boxing Day I picked up a really good set of wireless headphones so I can listen to audiobooks while I am filing.
And, while there was definitely some light cheese, there were also some great reads 👍

message 33: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 61914 comments You had an amazing month of reading, Jenn!

What brand of wireless headphones did you get? I'm in the market.

message 34: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3084 comments I actually got a pair of Beats wireless in ear, shipped up from a place in Edmonton. I was looking at these and the Bose wireless in ear, I have always loved Bose, but they had a shorter battery life in the buds, shorter battery in the charging case, and all of their controls are on the right ear bud.
I like the Beats because there are controls on both buds, so you can use just one or the other at a time, which also extends your battery life.
Good luck 😃

Oooh - I will look for the Beats. I'm hearing impaired in the right ear and I like the idea of being able to adjust them individually. I can stream my audiobooks to my hearing aid, but there is too much distortion, and since I only have the one hearing aid, there's nothing streaming to my good ear. I can actually hear my audiobook better with an ear bud!

message 36: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11838 comments Great start to the year Jenn! Hope you enjoyed them all.

message 37: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3084 comments Oh, I’m not sure about adjusting them separately, but they both have the controls. I will often just wear one at work so that I can hit pause and answer phones, and such. With the Bose, you had to be wearing the right bud to have any control.

message 38: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3084 comments Some better than others Margo, but at least there were no complete dogs lol

And it's my right ear that's impaired. Looking at pictures of the BeatX, there are controls on both sides.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21509 comments Whew - that was a lot of completed reads in May!

I bought The Cruel Prince but never cracked the cover. For some reason, I could just not do it. I had a few other books that I started and could not get into as well.

I liked Gideon and Ivan.
Before We Were Yours was really sad, wasn't it? I could not believe the woman who took all of those children.
TKaM is one of my all time favorites. I re-read it again every-once-in-a-while.
