Mart Just finished, and loved it. I was listening to it on audiobook but I came across an old illustrated version in our bookshelves and started reading it to my 5 year old boy Max, and we both loved it. It's dark and bloody and full of adventure and daring-do, and even though it's somewhat dated, it's a lot of fun. So, thumbs up from the Waterhouse boys! Another great choice CWATC! Arrrrrrrr!

Karen I also loved it and I also listened to it on Audio CD. I think the language - pirate speak - came across so well on audio. It was so much better to hear it spoken than read it. Because I listened to it, I haven't done any of the chapter reviews - it is online in a few places so I'll try to look for a few things I really liked. I was surprised, when I looked for it at the library where I work, to find out it is part of the summer reading list! Didn't want to take a copy and deprive an ambitious middle-schooler.

Mart The pirate voices were also fun to perform ... ;-)

Beth (k9odyssey) OK now I want to listen to it on audio! I just finished it on Kindle and loved every moment. Five Stars here.

Colleen Finished! The book kept losing me, but the last couple chapters were the best. Drink and the Devil!

Valerie Brown I loved it! A rip roaring adventure! I'm glad we chose it as our botm, otherwise I wouldn't have ever read it!

Beth (k9odyssey) I agree Valerie. That's what I love about the club. It gives me a reason to read books that wouldn't otherwise make it to my "want to read" list.

Beth (k9odyssey) I just saw a film adaptation that starred Charlton Heston as Long John and a very young Christian Bale as Jim. The sound was not great but it followed the book pretty closely and was quite good I thought.
