Second chance is a realistic and mystery fictional book novel by the author James Patterson. In this novel, the character I have chosen is Aaron Winslow and his problems is facing guiltiness. Overcoming gultiness is very difficult it makes one unable to think straight. For example, when Aaron Winslow and Lindsay has a conversation about what happened at la salle heights church and gather evidence about what Winslow has witnessed he would keep thinking about how he is the reasoning of her death and would tell Lindsay it’s his fault when he says, “I could have saved the poor baby. I heard the shots.” Lindsay would tell Winslow how he is not at fault and he did what he could. Guilt has also brought self punishment to Winslow when that one day the choir was leaving the church and forty eight children passed by him he would hear the shootings from out of nowhere and try to protect all the children. After the shooting was over Winslow made sure all the children was okay and would hear a child cry then find out that the reason she cried was because one of the children has died then Winslow would tell himself, “Oh god. Oh, no. How could you let this happen?”. Guilt makes one reluctant to enjoy life because ever since on that day Aaron has encountered an innocent children dead from trying to protect her and the others he would feel so horrible about himself he would let this guilt not let him look the positive side of what he’s done when he saved most of the children. I would feel pity for Winslow because he would let this guilt get to him it was not his fault that the child died he tried everything he could to protect all the children and most of the children would live on to grow. Does anyone have a character who they feel bad for because of what they have gone through.
