A big complaint I've heard about this book is that Atticus has become a villain and that he was written unlike the character in the first book. What are your thoughts.
Here is my two cents, I connected very closely with this book and Scout growing up to see the faults in the town and the people we love that we had never known existed. I think Atticus did not change at his core but as the world shifted around him his true prejudices were shown. As today shows us, when shifts happen in our country many people cling onto the past as it was comfortable and feels safe. In my opinion Atticus did not change, the realities and progression of the country did and he wasn't going with it.
