Also another amazing book series. For me it's also one of those rare cases where the movie is almost just as good.

It's really good, but I think the movie kind of killed it.

Melissa Ramirez (melissaramirez) | 51 comments I know this thread is old, but I tend to agree. The book was a middle-of-the-road one for me (could be because I came to it hot-off-the-tails of Hunger Games) and I felt like the movie just tried too hard in places.

It was a good movie, but it tried to live up the the Hunger Games success, and failed. I mean, theatrically, I think it was a success, but I mean on a personal level...I just wasn't completely into it.

Exactly. I felt that the book was very lacking. While I was reading all I could think is that I've read this same plot over and over again. It was classic dystopian, but to the point of boredom. And Victoria Roth's writing honestly did not help the case of the lacking plot. She wasn't entirely engaging. I feel like the movie directors knew this and that was why they tried to over do certain parts in hope to make it better. Unfortunately, I don't think they did it. Well, I guess that's not entirely true. I do have to say that the movie was DEFINITELY better (First time I've ever said that) But it still wasn't at it's full potential.

I agree. It was too similar to the hunger games and the need for rebellion against the corrupt world they are living in.

I know I've probably insulted everybody who likes this series. Please just remember that this is just my opinion!

I like the idea, and I like the way the book is so… well, sorrowful (because I like sad books).

I still feel like it was too Hunger Games-y.
And the main character was just… I didn't like her. At all.

Me either. I didn't like Tris. Or Four.
