Were you familiar with the Frost Fair of 1814 prior to reading this story? Is it difficult to imagine setting up shop on a river like the Thames?

Yes I knew about the Frost Fairs. That period was a little ice age - global cooling:) I believe the climate changed plus the beginning of industry led to factories pouring waste into the Thames which raised its temperature.
How beautiful it must have been and how dangerous!!!

Yes, I'd read about the Frost Fairs in several Regency romances.

I’d never heard of them! It sounded magical but the tragic end was almost inevitable.

I'd never heard of them either. It sounds pretty but I'm not a cold weather person so I probably would've stayed indoors all winter. lol.

My imagination would have run amok and I’d picture that ice thawing and me being swallowed up in the river.

I had heard of the Frost Fair and I'm racking my brain trying to remember the name/author of the book I read! Barbara Samuel? Lauren Willig? PB Ryan? Was it one of the CS Harris romance books (written as Candice Proctor)??
