Welcome, Amaka. Although I don't always read the monthly selections, I have read those that interest me, which, as this discussion group is named, have lead me to books that were pleasant surprises. I use this site to find books that are out of the main stream.I do like challenges but can't engage all challenges included in the discussion groups I'm enrolled in. Challenges do help me increase the number of books read.
If you need someone to host a book discussion by including questions, I would be willing.

I don't want to anyone to feel like they have to participate, but want to do more of what this group offers; present more books that fall outside of the mainstream. I'm so happy that you've enjoyed the group so far, and will take you up on your offer to help lead out in discussions!
So nice to meet you Amaka! I love this group because I haven't had one of the books on my TBR shelf that I have read from this group. It helps me stay out of my reading ruts where I continue to read the same genres. I work a lot of hours and but competitions, challenges are all welcome here. I'd be happy to donate a prize or two.
Admittedly, part of my membership in the group is the desire to see one of my books pop up in the challenges someday...But other than that! I like coming across books that might otherwise fall through the genre/category cracks. Such randomness has led me to many enjoyable titles over the years, and I hope it continues.
I don't always have a chance to read the recommendations after I see them, but they do on the list. Happy to assist with the continued good work here!

Any participation is welcome Christopher! I find that being able to interact with an author whose work I've read is quite a treat.
Welcome and thank you for being willing to lead! Like John and Charley Girl and Christopher, and I assume like others as well, I use this forum to find books I haven't heard of, and to stretch beyond the genres I tend to gravitate toward.
I'm not always able to read every month's selection, but I try to; I've found several that I'm really glad I read.
I enjoy discussions, though I don't have a bundle of time to keep up with a highly active discussion board. I'm more likely to check in once or twice a month and see what people think of the selection we're reading that month. I've enjoyed seeing other people's impressions and reactions.
I can't say I'd participate in a competition or read-a-thon - that's just not really my thing, but I'm sure I'd enjoy reading about other people's experiences.
Thanks again for being willing!

My name is Amaka Nzeadibe, and I'm the new Moderator for the group. I hope to be a great addition for the group!
As one year draws to and another begins, I find myself in need of some self reflections, and feel as if the group could use some as well.
So let me ask, how has this group served you? Do you feel like the group is great place of discussion? What would you like more of? Challenges? Competitions? Read-a-thons?Prizes? Authors in this group, what needs could this group meet for you? Would you be willing to host discussion, donate prizes/gifts, or even just promote more?
There are more than 13 million books published in the world, yet such a small fraction are part of the everyday discussion among book lovers. Lets see how we can change that!
