Here's where I'm going to put every quote that makes my belly feel kinda full of crazy butterflies. Which sounds weird but, you know.

1.

A new song starts and Sophie grabs my hand.

'Most guys look so awkward when they dance,' she says. 'Not you.'

'There's a reason for that,' I tell her.

'Oh yeah?' She arches an eyebrow.

'It's because I don't give a sh*t,' I say. And when I say it, I believe it. Because really, it doesn't matter: Bev can make out with a girl in a bar, and I can go home and live with my dad, and my mom can live in Paris forever, and we might all still be okay. In just a little while we will forget all the things we used to want and adjust to the lives we're given. '

2.

'And then I'm leaving, walking across and behind the station and out of sight from everyone and my sneaker hits the curb over and over until my foot feels numb and swollen, and then I crumple into this pathetic heap on a nasty patch of weeds that smell like piss and garbage and yell the loudest yell of my life- louder than I yelled when Bev flew off her bike and landed hard on Ninth Avenue; louder than I yelled when I was six and got locked in a closet during a hide-and-seek game gone wrong; louder than I yelled when a group of us found ourselves up on Twin Peaks at 1:00 AM on Saturday, drunk and exhausted but refusing to call it a night, and we felt so small with the city lights stretching forever below us, and we yelled at the top of our lungs because we felt more longing than could ever fit inside us.'

3.

Let me tell you this: if you meet a loner, no matter what they tell you, it's not because they enjoy solitude. It's because they have tried to blend into the world before, and people continue to disappoint them.

- My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult.

It's brilliant! You should give it a go. Probably my favourite by Jodi Picoult. Have you seen the movie?
