Just a question: What is the "Writing" heading for if not for people to post stories? Why have a "Short Stories" thread?

That's what her mother always said. It was always a caution. "Don't unlock that beast, my love. Do not." She told me that terrible, terrible, terrible things would happen.
But...what is a beast in the first place? In my heart, Mama still does not know what is a beast. A beast could be helpful, loving, dangerous, evil, a lover or an enemy. The opportunities are endless. Maybe the beast is courage, maybe the beast is hate..
I tell you, reader. No matter what, follow the rule. It is a dangerous world out there, people have good and bad inside them. It's up to you on how you treat them. Don't be like me. I have released 1 beast.

This is the Law of Beast, the science behind the magic, summed up and ready for elementary schoolers. A fact that has made crime practically disappear for fear that victims will be able to summon fire with a breath or end a life with a thought if frightened well enough. It was because of this that Ava was able to walk through a dark allie at night without fear of mugging, theft, or even more horrendous sins.
Ava shouldn't have been there, she should've been with her mother.
Except for the fact that they where both beast; Ava literally, mother figuratively.
She felt a sliver of remorse as she walked to the red brick News Building. However, conjuring up the memory of the revealing article about all the beasts in the city was enough to give Ava resolve.
With the first punch, the building shook.
With the second, the windows shattered.
With the third, the roof caved in, and sirens started blaring.
Soon the building collapsed, with all its residents dead except for one man.
No, men didn't have storm clouds circling them.
He was now a beast.
Ava then felt a jolt, a shock. She looked down to find red liquid on her body. Soon pain came, and so did more blood.
She collapsed as the newly created beast ran towards her. If someone was to hear her last words, at least it was a beast and not one of the police who'd just murdered her.

This is the story of the girl who has not finished her soul.
Or doesn’t have a soul….?
Not Human
She walked on the streets neither excited nor sad. She was almost robot. Her name? Ellie—it meant the most beautiful woman in the world.— Which did suit her in a way.
Anyways she walked on when she spotted a girl sitting on a bench holding a cat.
The cat purred but stopped and looked at the girl.
The kitty looked at her like an object she wanted to knock off a table, but most of all with interest.
The girl on the bench followed the cats glaire and looked at Ellie. She waved softly and then went back to what she was doing. Ellie went on her way like a robot programed to walk and occasionally talk.
Back home she went to find her mom on her computer smiling. When her mother had noticed her she looked at Ellie hoping for some communication of feelings. Her mother was met with an almost lifeless little girl.
She was at the verge of tears looking at her own daughter.
Ellie did a soft emotionless wave and went to her room. Up the stairs she went with an occasional creaking.
At Least a Smile
Every time the girl walked past she would always she that same girl with the cat. She always waved at her but got ignored.
One day she went up to the girl. “Hi,” the girl said demandingly. “Hi.” A reply came in a normal tone. “Why do you always ignore me!” She said as her cat hissed. “I don’t know.” Ellie replied confused with herself. Confused…? Confused. How?? “I’m… Chloe…. by the way.” Chloe said with interest in the girl. “Hi… Chloe.” She said it slowly and started to smile. “I haven’t heard a word of emotion from you until now!” Chloe giggled sweetly. A light pink formed on her cheeks. “I don’t really remember ever feeling much emotion.
Ellie went back home smiling. She walked in to see her mom and she smiled at her and waved politely.
Her mother waved back before being hit with shock.
“M-my girl.” She said dramatically. “You… what?”
Ellie went upstairs leaving her mom in shock.
Ellie and the girl kept in contact.

*Ellie goes to the bench and Chloe arrives like 2 minutes after*
Chloe skips up and plops down on the bench. “Hello!” Chloe says in a loud voice.
“Hi,” Ellie said with a small smile.
Chloe opens a small basket she brought that was filled with fruit. Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and grapes. Chloe smiled kindly and pushes a blueberry in Ellie’s mouth. Ellie smiled and grabbed a strawberry after Chloe did. “Cheers” Chloe said bumping her strawberry against Ellie’s.
Chloe picked up her cat that Ellie forgot was even there. “This is whispers,” Chloe stated adding on, “She is very shy and overprotective and I thought whispers sounded like whiskers.” Chloe smiled. “And she is a girl.”
Chloe offered her the cat and Ellie carefully accepted. Whispers purred in her arms and rubbed against her. Ellie gave her back Whispers and Chloe had quickly picked her back up and set her down on her lap.
“I thought you would maybe like this,” Chloe said with a slight rosey blush while she picked up a peony, “Here. You can dry it if you’d like.” Chloe offered it to her. “Why? For me…?” Ellie said slowly taking it. “Because! You are so epic.” Chloe said with a barely noticeable wink. Ellie slightly giggled. “I should probably go though!” Ellie said speed walking away with a small wave.
*three weeks later*

A week later they met up Chloe skipping towards her like usual
“Hi!” Chloe waved cat in her other hand.
“We’ve known each other for a month now!” Ellie stated excitedly.
“We have!” Chloe said sitting down. Ellie pulled a bouquet of peonies out and gave it to Chloe. “Thank you!” Chloe said sincerely. “You’re welcome.” Ellie blushed.
They exchanged glances and Chloe gave Ellie a bowl of fruits. The same fruits on the first time they hung out. “Thank you.” Ellie smiled.
They waved farewell to each other and went on their way.

Ellie waited nervously at the bench and saw Chloe approach.
“Hi! I had to leave Whispers at home.” Chloe said with her usual excitement in her voice.
Chloe’s eyes sparkled in the moonlight, it was evening
“I-I um-“ Ellie was stopped “Just say it!” “Well...I kind of.. like you?” Ellie’s heart was beating through her chest she was nervously fidgeting with her hair.
She looked over at Chloe to see a deep ruby blush.
Chloe turned to face Ellie and their eyes locked they were a breath away from each other. Half a breath, quarter of a breath, and then, no breaths.

Ellie met up with Chloe at the same bench because they stayed in the same neighborhood. They were chatting like usual. And Chloe was looking for a strawberry in her fruit basket while Ellie got out a peony bouquet and a ring with a blueberry on it in a tiny red box (to represent the thing they ate together). Chloe looked at her and joy filled her eyes. “You were the one who gave me the part of the soul I was missing I wouldn’t be doing this if you weren’t you.” Ellie said half cringing at her cheesy line. No words came out of Chloe only a nod.
Ellie went to her parents house with Chloe. They stepped in and went to her parents.
“This is the girl I’m marrying”
