Originally published in 1976. Features Miss Marple (#13).

Soon after Gwenda moved into her new home, odd things started to happen. Despite her best efforts to modernize the hose, she only succeeded in dredging up its past. Worse, she felt an irrational sense of terror every time she climbed the stairs.

In her fear, Gwenda turned to Miss Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Between them, they were to solve a "perfect" crime committed many years before.

That's so wonderful that you started reading with a Christie book :)

You started with a wonderful author. I sometimes wonder if people, who say they don't like to read, started with not too good books or authors or were forced to read uninteresting literature in school. I can't imagine not liking to read.

I totally agree, Sheri. I think people who say they don't like reading just haven't tried the right books for them

Sue (mrskipling) I'm just starting to re-read this one. It's one of my favourites. I love the beginning where she (view spoiler) Also the fact that (I think!!) I can remember whodunnit doesn't spoil it either. It's still a great story!

Pages | 1 comments I’ve literally read this one all day. It felt like a short read. I enjoyed it. Quite different. I loved Miss Marple steering the young couple with suggestions and clues.
I think I started to guess whodunnit about half way through.

Finn (music_finn) | 1 comments Just finished this one as part of my Pop Sugar Challenge (a book published posthumously-any excuse to read some Agatha Christie!!)

Hadn't really been aware of it before this, although I've read a lot of hers and also seen a fair few tv adaptations.

I really enjoyed it and really felt like I'd guessed at the ending, but as always, she managed to keep the plot twisting!!

John (kiwiinhove) | 7 comments Just found a copy of this novel and will now read it. I thought I had read all the Miss Marple. Apparently not.
