Agnes Trifontaine (authortrifontaine) | 6 comments It has been said that there will be wars as long as there are humans. It is indisputable that the past has proven the point. How did it start? With brother killing brother over a dish of lentils? I want what you want and I'll have it. My need over yours. (Might they have shared it?)
I have a vision of what our world could be like if we stop catering to such a principle. We can simply say: Your need is as good as mine. You matter as much as I. This is called: Power With rather than Power Over. Imagine the changes if we reversed the rule of domination, of lust for power and wealth?
Who told us that war is our destiny? And with what purpose? We don't even need ten commandments. All we need is one: Do No Harm!
Wouldn't it be lovely?
What do you think?

Denise Shaw | 3 comments Hi, that is such an interesting (and complex) question. I would like to imagine a day when weapons are put aside and war is ceased. Sadly, I suspect that is but a dream. As someone who works in the aerospace industry (missile defense) I think as long as there is a profit to be made and power to be claimed there will be war.

Hi, Denise, interesting point and (sadly) I suspect correct. I recently ghosted a military memoir and the veteran raised a thought provoking point in that who exactly are the good guys, the bad guys?? Us? Them? His view was neither. There are no good guys or bad guys in and of themselves. It is all a matter of which side of the war you are standing. War and those who create it along with those who fight it will always justify it to meet their own perspective.

Roxanna López I've been wondering this myself for a long time. And then I asked myself: How will a world without wars looked like? I can still not imagine it but it could be a good thought experiment to make.
