Happy Ever After

Well, I started book one of this series on Thursday night, and here I am, Sunday at noon, having finished the fourth book. Don't judge me. It is rare that I have this much free time on a weekend (though I am sure there are other things I should have been doing) and it has been way too long since I had a reading marathon.

I distinctly remember reading this quartet for the first time nearly a decade a go. I remember loving it. I remember adoring the four friends—Mac, Emma, Laurel, and Parker—who run a high-end, all-inclusive wedding company together.. I remember sighing over the four guys—Carter, Jack, Del, and Mal—who not just pair up with the women but also form their own friendships. I remember wanting for that to be my life full of friends and love and magical weddings. I remember knowing that I would definitely reread the series at some point.

And, here I am, having reread them all in less than 72 hours. Still in love with every aspect of these friends, of these relationships, of these lives.

I have said it before and I will say it again and again. I adore Nora Roberts. I will read her books for the rest of my life and still never know how, for me, she manages to infuse romance and magic in each of her books.

Now, I can get back to my regularly scheduled life.

KateNZ | 4123 comments I did a fair amount of reading instead of other things this weekend too - and every time I flicked into GR, you’d finished another book! Cheering right alongside ya!

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Hahahaha! Good for you, Kate! Sometimes, it is just good for your soul. I had a bit of a crazy week on both the professional and personal levels and losing myself in some overly idealistic romance was perfect!

Kate, what have you been reading this weekend?

message 5: by KateNZ (new)

KateNZ | 4123 comments I read most of ‘The Alice Network’ (Saturday) and all of ‘Educated’ (Sunday). And totally ignored the work I needed to catch up on. Now it’s Monday morning, I’m on the train and I can hear the chickens coming home to roost 😳

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments Hahaha! I at least still have most of my Sunday to do a few things. Just tell those chickens to F off 😉

Charlotte | 1701 comments I love this Nora series, it's one of my favorite!! I've had a bit of a Nora marathon myself but not a series. I finished up The Liar yesterday and started on The Obsession. I love Nora when I'm stressed or down. I've been so stressed both professionally and personally too that I decided I'm just going to read a crap ton of Nora between now and the end of the year.

Sue | 2743 comments I loved that series! It sounds like the first time you read was when they first came out. That's when I first read them too.... and you had to WAIT for each book to come out. Torture!

I found this series to be so happy and uplifting. I'm glad you had a chance to do a marathon re-read!

I typically read a few of her books a year, and was on track to read three in 2018. Apparently it just wasn't enough!

I don't know that I will get to other Nora between now and the end of the year, but I do have a lot of Christmas romance novels queued up!

Yes! That was the first time I read them! The torture between books was the worst! Binging them all in just a single weekend is much much better :)

I'm on my 9th book that she wrote... I have a Christmas on that was on sale the other day on Kindle. I saw some [author:Debbie Macomber|11349] holiday books on sale at Walmart the other day that I might go back in grab or see what I can find at my local used bookstore. I'm looking forward to going crazy with some holiday romances myself :)

Your title made me laugh and I had to click on this! I love how much you loved these books.

Theresa | 15756 comments I absolutely applaud you and have done the same, Nicole. In fact I think I read the first 3 of that series in a weekend, then had to wait for MONTHS for the 4th to be published! Love that series.

I personally plan to disappear into Christmas romances and cozy mysteries right after Thanksgiving. Just have time for one more literary fiction read before then.

YEESSS!!! I already have my cheesy Christmas romance book picked out for Thanksgiving Day. After that, I have to buckle down a bit for finals, but after those are over I have several more ready and waiting for me. I typically blow through 7-8 cheesy romances in December. And I love every second of it!

Amy | 12985 comments Not related to Nora, but I must say my 8 year old is providing me with more than enough fall flurry tales upcoming. Starting with the two or three Chanukah books, so we are in line with the holiday, leading into a very Christmas experience for all our favorite series characters, right where we are in each of the series.... next up for December fall flurries; The Very Last Chanukah Gift....

message 18: by Susie (new)

Susie Ha! I love that you read all of them!

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments You know me, Susie, just some high brow literature for my weekend 😂

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments I just keep eyeing the other Nora trilogy that I have been wanting to reread, the Inn Boonsboro Trilogy ( The Next Always, The Last Boyfriend, The Perfect Hope)....

No, I am going to resist...for now...

LOVED that series too! And it holds up real well on re-reading.

You have law school exams, correct??? Oh, my, you will desperately need those Christmas themed romances after! I certainly did!

Actually, I have a confession...I just needed a jolt of Christmas ... so check out my review posted in other books today...and its only about 126 pages so you might be able to squeeze it in during finals ... AND it's currently free on Amazon!

Yep! I have law school finals. But, it is my next to last semester so I just keep my eye on the light at the end of the tunnel! lol.

I typically mentally crash after finals and binge on either cheesy Christmas romances or, after the spring semester, I will binge cheesy TV. It is a must!

I just saw it and loved it! I am a big fan of a little Christmas in your life whenever you are feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed. It heals everything :)

Book Concierge (tessabookconcierge) | 8458 comments LOVE your review! Love YOU!

Nora, not so much .... but I've only read one or two of her books and they just didn't capture me. Still, your enthusiasm makes me want to give her another try.

Awww, thanks! I love that y'all love my enthusiasm and there is no judgment!

I know Nora is not for everyone, but I hope everyone has a go-to author that makes them as happy as she makes me!

Joi (missjoious) | 3970 comments Haha the only two series of Nora Roberts I've read- are the two mentioned here! The bride quartet, and the Innsboro trilogy.

I also LOVED these, and will probably re-read eventually.

Any other suggestions for a lighthearted quickie Nora series similar to these two?

Nicole R (drnicoler) | 8088 comments The Chesapeake Bay Saga! They are a bit older but they are so great. I think the first one is Inner Harbor followed by Rising Tides. Blanking in the third.

She wrote the trilogy first and then several years later tacked on a fourth called Chesapeake Blue.
