Nima "I decided as long as I'm going to hell anyways. I might as well do i thoroughly"

Is this sentence referring to the Literal meaning(Because Edward Thinks that he doesn't have a soul, so he'll go to Hell) or the Expression of "Going to Hell"?

Gracie Williams | 4 comments Yeah I guess so

Bree (breesykes) | 3 comments Because Edward doesn’t have a soul (in his opinion) he will be going to hell if he’s killed as a vampire. No chance for heaven.

An | 27 comments I do believe Edward is referring to his soul being literally damned to hell.

Noonecansinkmyship (Tissa) Yep. I think so too because he’s killed people before so he feels that his soul’s tainted double since he’s a vampire and he used to kill people.

Madison (mads_narnia15) | 2 comments I agree with all. And I think even more so that he had to turn Bella into one and he feels guilty about that

Noonecansinkmyship (Tissa) Yeah that was his main reason for not wanting to turn Bella.

Noonecansinkmyship (Tissa) It would also be good to remember that he grew up in the early 1900s and was turned in 1917 I believe. Back then, the general populace was still extremely religious and vampires, witches, demons, etc... were associated with the devil. Everyone also universally agreed that vampires were doomed to rot in Hell because of what they were and Edward grew up in a world were this went undisputed and was impressed upon him from a young age.
