The end of 2018 is quickly approaching and while there's still time to read another book (or four), we think you might already have some favorite reads from the last year.

Share here which books made an impact for you, whether they were newly published in 2018 or an older book that you discovered (or rediscovered!) this year.

Charleen (charleenlynette) My only 5-star book this year was Every Note Played, but there were several others I really enjoyed:
The Handmaid's Tale
Crocodile on the Sandbank
Stories of Your Life and Others
Infomocracy

Non-fiction highlights:
I Am Malala
Year of Yes
Words Without Music: A Memoir

I also re-read some favorites, including Mistborn: The Final Empire and Tom King's 12-issue run of The Vision.

@Charleen What a wonderfully varied list! I have a few of those on my TBR. I think I'll give Infomocracy and The Vision a try in 2019!

I'm still hoping to finish a few more books this year, so I might have something to add later on, but for right now my hands down favorite of the year has been the Murderbot series by Martha Wells and All Systems Red has been my only 5-star of 2018.

Two biographical comics (or graphic memoirs) I loved this year:
Duran Duran, Imelda Marcos, and Me
The Best We Could Do

Two 450+ page fantasy novels that held my attention:
Tess of the Road
Spinning Silver

I am just three books away from finishing my Goodreads reading goal for the year. I think I can do it!

My favorites from 2018 are:
Rosemary and Rue
Children of Blood and Bone
The Assassin's Blade
We Have Always Lived in the Castle

Two big books I started this year, but might not finish until next year (though I am loving them so far...)
Outlander
The Final Empire

There are so, so many books I want to read!

@Angie I'm so glad you also like Rosemary and Rue! The October Daye series is definitely my favorite series of all of Seanan McGuire's many series. Last year I visited the Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park, which was a low-key fangirl moment XD

Charleen (charleenlynette) Angie, I just finished my re-read of The Final Empire last week, and it was just as satisfying as I remember it. Glad you're enjoying it! I plan to re-read the rest of the trilogy soon.
