Mimi walked up to the house, shifting Zoe in her arms. The toddler had fallen asleep on the walk home. Mimi unlocked the door and opened it for herself and Jess.

Jess walked in after Mimi opened it for him and looked at Mimi smiling at her then looked at Zoe who looked like she was asleep.

"I just have to lay her down" Mimi said to him, heading off to lay her daughter down. She returned to him a few minutes later. "So I didn't get a chance to formally introduce myself. I'm Mimi Marquez" She said, holding her hand out to him with a smile.

"Jess Mariano" He said shaking her hand. "It's nice to meet you, You got a nice place here and you're very beautiful." He said honestly.

Mimi blushed a bit "Thank you, you are very handsome yourself" Mimi replied, before leading him to the living room. She sat on the couch, motioning for him to do the same.

Jess blushed a little and went and sat on the couch next to her. "Your daughter's adorable."

Mimi nodded to that "Yeah she is. Zoe is my world" Mimi said.

"Easy to imagine that." Jess said nodding.

Mimi chuckled "Yeah, she makes it pretty easy. I mean most days. I have to be honest, it has been hard to raise her alone"

"I can help" Jess offered her before hearing his phone ring. Shaking his head he answered it, The ringing signaling that the number wasn't one that he knew. "Yeah?" He said into the phone. "What? You did what? Why didn't you tell me, and you just left her out there alone? Jeeze Marianne, Where'd you leave her? Yeah thanks a lot." Jess said into his phone having heard a voice he'd never thought he'd hear again.

Mimi listened to Jess's side of the call, a look of worry on her face. She had no idea what the call was, but by the sounds of it, it wasn't good.

"Apparently I have a kid, The person I just talked to, She just left my kid out on the streets to fend for herself. Here, in Sunnydale." Jess said standing up. "She said that my daughters name is Sandy, that she's blind, I gotta go get her." He said heading for the door.

"Go then, and then both of you are welcome to stay here" Mimi told him, only staying at the house because of Zoe. "I'll be here, go get your daughter"

Jess nodded and opened the door and jumped through it shifting mid-leap into his wolf form before taking off at a run towards the bus station where he'd heard that Sandy was.

Mimi watched him go, before she stepped back inside and went to Zoe's room. She sat on the rocking chair next to her daughter. She couldn't believe that someone would be able to abandon their child. Zoe was everything to her "You don't know it yet Baby Girl, but you saved Mami's life. I love you" Mimi said in Spanish, speaking very quiet, as not to wake the toddler.

I got a friend, she has a daughter too, I think you two could be friends. Jess said telepathically as Sandy rode on his back. Making it to Mimi's house he scratched at the door. I'm back. he said through the door to Mimi.


Sandy rode on Jess' back giggling as she heard him speaking in her mind.

Mimi hears Jess in her mind, she stood up and quietly left Zoe's room. She came and opened the door for Jess and Sandy. "Welcome back"

Thanks, Mimi this is Sandy, Sandy that's Mimi. Jess said before Sandy climbed off his back, when she did he changed back into his human form.

Mimi knelt to Sandy's height "Hello there Sandy. It's nice to meet you. I have a little girl just a bit younger than you" She said.

Sandy nodded but backed up, not used to new people yet, still getting used to her dad.

Mimi stood back up and stepped back, allowing Sandy her space.

Zoe came out of her room, having woken up. She looked at Sandy, then at Jess before looking at her mom "Mami who is she? Can I be her friend?" She asked, not realizing she was speaking Spanish. She mostly spoke it around her mom.

"Who's that? Who's there?" Sandy asked showing that she was a little scared.

Mimi picked Zoe up, and put the toddler on her hip. "It's my daughter Zoe" Mimi assured Sandy, before looking at Zoe "This is Sandy, she is Jess's daughter. Also you have to speak English Mija, Jess and Sandy don't know Spanish" Mimi explained to Zoe.

Zoe nodded her head quickly "Okay Mami!" She said, wiggling around until Mimi set her down. She walked over to Sandy "I Zoe, I 2 years old. Wanna be my friend?" She asked.

"I'm 5 and sure, I'd love to have a friend." Sandy said smiling at Zoe.

Zoe grinned "Yay!" Zoe replied excitedly, running back to her mom "Mami I made a friend!"

Mimi smiled at her daughter, before she suddenly realized the time "Shoot I have to do a shift at work tonight...and I didn't arrange a sitter." Mimi said looking stressed out. "I can't miss this shift, or I could lose my job"

"I can watch them, Zoe already likes me and she just became friends with Sandy, Go on." Jess said assuring her that Zoe would be safe.

Mimi hesitated for a moment before nodding "Alright, I'll be home in a few hours. My number is on the fridge if you need anything. The only thing Zoe can't have is oranges, other than that you are fine. Thank you so much Jess!" Mimi said, gathering her things quickly. She knelt down to Zoe's height "Be good Mija, remember to speak English or they won't understand you. I love you" Mimi said to her daughter, the last part in Spanish, afterwards she left.

Jess waved a goodbye at Mimi as she left for work, "Okay, so what do you want to do?" He asked the two kids.

"Umm......Movie?" Sandy said, she loved movies, she couldn't watch them but listening to them helped her imagination.

Zoe nodded in agreement to Sandy "Yeah movie! Mami and I has lots!" Zoe said excitedly, running over to the cabinet with over a hundred movies.

"Okay, whaddaya got?" He asked heading over to the cabinet.

"Moana! Is my favorite" Zoe suggested, climbing onto the couch.

He opened the cabinet door and picked out the movie before he popped it into the DVD player and turned the tv on and hit play.

Sandy found her way over to the couch and sat down to enjoy the movie.

Zoe watched the movie intently, hardly moving unless she was singing along to the songs. She always sang them when she watched it with Mimi.

Sandy listened to the music and voices of the movie as well as Zoe's singing and smiled a little at both, it sounded like it was a good movie.

About halfway through the movie, Zoe got up and snuck into the kitchen, grabbing a juice box for herself and Sandy. She returned and set Sandy's in her lap, before returning to her spot.

((What kind of Juice? Though I know Mimi wouldn't keep any kind of oranges in the place.))

Sandy picked her juice box up and opened it, putting the straw in she took a few sips. Grape, her favorite.

Zoe picked up her apple juice and took a sip.

Mimi walked up and unlocked the door. As she stepped in, Zoe came running at her a big smile on her face. "Hi Mami, I had fun with Jess and Sandy. They are the best! We watched a movie!" Zoe spoke excitedly, not noticing Roger or Maya. All she cared about was talking to her mom.

Mimi laughed a bit at Zoe excitement, picking the toddler up and kissing on the cheek. "I'm glad you had fun with Jess and Sandy Mija." She said, holding her daughter close.

"She chose the movie, It was cool. I enjoyed it." Sandy said walking over, touching the wall so she didn't run into anything.

"Who're you? Wait, you must be Roger." Jess said to him.

Maya raised a brow at Jess then looked between them.

As Jess mentioned the others, Zoe then took notice of Roger and Maya "Mami? Who are they?" She asked her mother, not speaking English.

"That's me and who might you be?" Roger responded.

Mimi took a deep breath, preparing herself for the worst, then she turned to face Maya and Roger, allowing them to fully see Zoe "This is Zoe...And Zoe this is Roger, he's your father" She said.

Roger moved his attention from Jess to Zoe, looking at the toddler carefully, she looked a lot like Mimi, but he could see a few of his own traits in her.

"I'm Jess." Jess said to Roger looking at Zoe, any reaction from her that she wanted away from this man he'd step forward and initiate himself into a fight if any came.

"Maya" she said waving a hello at the little girl.

Zoe looked really confused, but gave a shy smile to Maya. She then turned and hid her face away. She wasn't around people often, so she was really on used to Mimi, and somewhat to Jess and Sandy.

Roger look concerned when Zoe hid her face "Did I do something wrong?"

Mimi shook her head "No, she is just shy. I haven't really introduced her to many people. I didn't want the wrong people finding out about her" Mimi explained, not adding that people she didn't want finding out about Zoe were her parents.

"Its getting dark, I can put Zoe and Sandy down for bed." Jess offered Mimi.

Mimi nodded "Sandy can stay in Zoe's room till we get one set up for her. There is an extra bed in her room, she is still in the crib in her room" Mimi explained to Jess, before looking to Zoe "Zoe go with Jess, it's time for bed. I love you, and have good dreams." Mimi said to her daughter.

Zoe looked up and nodded, reaching for Jess.

Mimi looked at Roger and Maya "You can both go sit in the living room. We can talk" She said.

"Okay, C'mon big girl" Jess said taking Zoe from Mimi, before he lead the way to Zoe's room, Setting everything up he put Zoe and Sandy down for the night. "Goodnight, I'll see you in the morning." Jess said kissing them both on their foreheads. After he was done he walked back out and saw them sitting in the livingroom.

Maya sat on one of the reclining chairs and looked at Mimi.

Zoe put her thumb in her mouth, and fell asleep quickly.

Roger looked at his ex girlfriend, waiting for her to start speaking. "I want to know everything starting with after I left"

Mimi nodded, waiting for Jess to return and once he did, she started talking. "I found out about Zoe 6 months after our fight, I was 7 months along already but I wasn't showing very much. I was scared, I didn't know if I would be a good mom. I decided to find out right away what I was having." Mimi stopped, needing a second before she got to the hardest part. "When I told my parents that I was pregnant, my father beat me and told me that I had two choice. Abort the child or leave. I told him I was keeping my daughter and I was kicked out that night. I struggled for the first few months on my own, and I had to do a lot that I regret to make it by." Mimi told the group. She took another calming breath "Because of my position when Zoe was first born, she was taken from me and put in foster care for the first 3 months of her life. Having my little girl taken from me, made me do better in life. I moved here to Sunnydale, got a job, worked long hours and as many shifts as I could. I found thus house for quite cheap and bought it. Zoe was returned to my care after that. I have been raising her since"

Jess moved closer to Mimi to comfort her. Then looked at Roger and Maya.

"What" She said to Jess. "Hey you made something of yourself, that's something." Maya said shrugging.

Mimi allowed herself to be comforted by Jess "I never meant to keep her from you Roger. After we broke up, I didn't know where you went and I knew I needed to get far away from my parents." Mimi continued, before smiling gratefully a bit at Maya "Thank you Maya"

Roger took everything Mimi said in, he had known her parents weren't the best, but he didn't realize they were abusive like that. "I understand why you did it, and if you and your boyfriend are okay with it. I would like to get to know my daughter as well Zoe deserves to get to know her adopted sister, Maya" Roger offered, assuming Jess and Mimi were officially a couple.
