Awesome. Thanks for the link. Bit too much fantasy in it, but definitely some authors on there to keep an eye out for. I've ready only, I think, 4 of them.

I meant to say, the ones I have read are:

Joe Abercrombie
Nick Harkaway
Joanne Harris
M. John Harrison
Simon Ings
China Miéville
David Mitchell
Adam Roberts
Justina Robson
Charlie Stross

They missed Peter F. Hamilton, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Neal Asher, Alastair Reynolds Gary Gibson and quite a few other big names.

Interesting list. I've heard of all but four and read half of those. Some of the choices though seem a little odd considering that it's supposed to be authors you've never heard of. How many can really say that they haven't heard of Walton, or Mieville, or MJH, or Abercrombie to name a few?

Gives me a few ideas on what to read next.

I'm a big fan of Joe Abercrombie but wouldn't, under any circumstances clasify him as a Science Fiction author

Crusader mentioned a few above. I'll also throw out Iain M Banks, Christopher Priest, Chris Wooding, and Ian McDonald.

A few of the others on the list write fantasy as well so I just assumed it was both sci-fi and fantasy.
