As my NYRB collection is growing I'm wondering how I should shelve them and am curious as to how others shelve their collection? By publication date (what I'm leaning towards), by title, by author, or?

I have one shelf devoted to nyrb editions which now has books horizontal on top of the line of vertical books. I need a small bookcase to devote solely to these treasures.I have books grouped by author at this point, but as my collections grows I will likely group them by subject the way they are listed in the catalog.
I recently just redid our bookcases and now have my NYRB collection organized by color. It’s a bit annoying to find a title sometimes, but looks really nice and receives a lot of comments.

Currently I have them arranged nay curated by color. Really looks beautiful. I have anything NYRB has done there (classics, comics and children’s collections). Though the new Anniversaries by Uwe Johnson takes up a ton of shelf space. I posted a pic once at my instagram @hvbooknerd
I have a bookcase devoted to Nobel winners, a bookcase of women authors, and groups of authors, a bookcase of Booker winners, a shelf of India novels, a shelf of Europa and Text publishers, a few shelves of indie press books, a bookcase of nonfiction, grouped by topic, some books that have sentimental value, and the rest are grouped by geographically.I love hearing how others organize books.
I would like to have a shelf of Virago books. I don’t have a Canadian shelf, but I should, I read some outstanding books by CA authors last year.

I creatively named my account wendywhidden. I call my page attachments: the books & objects that trap me in samsara
I had to redo my shelf because I was starting to duplicate because I didn’t see that I already had something. So now they are all alphabetical by author the same way they are listed in the back of each volume. I can tell quickly now if I don’t have one we are going to read. It had become....unmanageable. Also I put them all on floating bookshelves up above the unused space above and around the door frame. I am contemplating switching out the door itself with a bookcase door to make a hidden room.
