Almack's Assembly Rooms is a social club located in London, in the West End district of St. James. Situated in King's Street, it is one of the few public centres of London high society, during an era when most venues for the social season are the grand houses of the aristocracy. It admits both ladies and gentlemen, and to be given a voucher to Almack's by one of the Lady Patronesses indicates that one is of the highest social standing. Conversely, to be barred from Almack's is the highest social disgrace.

In order to gain admission, a noble title is recommended, but breeding and behaviour are even more important. The place also serves the purpose of allowing gentlemen to search for a respectable bride of suitable ton. To avoid any hint of impropriety, the dances are limited to country dances like reels and minuets, though later the quadrille and the waltz were added. Refreshments are simple and unimpressive, to avoid the appearance of an expensive private party, and to avoid drunkenness only tea and lemonade are served in the upper rooms.

Inside Almack's there are various dancing rooms and supper rooms; later gaming rooms were also added to the establishment, for those who preferred gaming to dancing.
