This book may not be as inspiring or adventurous as the others I have read, however, it was still very good. The relationships between Ethan and Mattie as well as Ethan and Zeena describe multiple relationships today and in the past. What is ironic is the depression so to speak that Zeena had eventually goes away, while Ethan and Mattie gain it. Also, the fact that Mattie does end up staying with Ethan, but not in the way he wanted, and they are not happy is also interesting. The way Edith Wharton set up the introduction and ending was a little confusing, but I eventually got it and all in all, this wasn't a bad novel.

Glad to see a classic like Ethan Frome make the summer reading list! I love this book. I have to confess that I hated it when it was required reading my sophomore year of high school. It was a totally different reading experience when I read it because I wanted to this past Christmas. I would read it again!
