The Ready, Set, Cover challenge is a go for 2019! We’ve changed this from a speed reading challenge to a yearly challenge, so everyone can get involved. Pick a level, find books that fit either of the requirements and read, read, read! Please note that all books are to be read in their corresponding task month!
There is a new option for colors this year: Multi-Color! For example, if a month says "Red, White, and Green Multi-Color" you must use the TinEye tool linked below to achieve at least 20% of each color listed, so that the three colors make up at least 60% of the total color content of the cover. (Months where only 2 colors are listed should be 25% of each color listed for a total of at least 50%.) Special Thanks go to Agnieszka for the Multi-Color Suggestion!
There are alternate options in case you can't find books fitting one of the regular options. Alternate items can be used for one or more books during that month, but once the alternate has been used, it cannot be used again until one calendar month has passed from the month you use it in. (Example: Alternate Item Desk is used in April, it can't be used again until June of that year.)
For an added level of difficulty, read the same amount of books for the level you picked in both the item option and the color option.
For the options that are colors, the cover has to be at least 50% that color, except if it is a Multi-Color Month. If you're not sure about a book cover, upload the URL of the cover to https://labs.tineye.com/color/ and have it determine the percentage of the cover each color has, then tally them all up to ensure you have 50% of the specified color. See the rules above for instructions for a Multi-Color Month!! Please try to use your best judgement here, but you can PM Foreman Trea if you have issues. PLEASE do not send huge lists of books asking for her judgement, though, as the TinEye Color Extractor Tool is what she goes with 9 times out of 10. (Exceptions will be made for those with Color Disabilities!)
