Since we never got to this one since ToD caused a stall, how about we start on Jan 10th?

My book arrived today, so excited to start it. So far all my BRs this year are with you Saar, I'm stalking you! 😂

Haha, I didn't noticed, but you can stalk me :D I'm looking forward to all our BR's. I'll have my copy Tuesday. It wasn't available in the main library and tomorrow it's a really busy day to go to the local library. Did you start already?

I've only read the first three chapters so not very far at all. I'm gonna read it slowly and savour it since it's the final book so no rush.

Chapters 1-3 (view spoiler)[

Chapter 1 - Aedion and Lysandra! It's awful, they shouldn't be at each others throats, they might both be dead soon! Aedion needs to get over himself and seize happiness where he can. Lysandra has enough shit to deal with, she needs his support. Imy rooting for them, I really am.

It was lovely seeing Evangeline well and happy. She's truly a ray of sunshine. I hope she survives what's to come.

Chapter 2 - freaking Lorcan! I'm genuinely surprised he's alive. He sold them out, he sold Aelin out, to Meave! Rowan should have snapped his neck on that beach.

Chapter 3 - this was horrific and so difficult to read. Cain is evil, eveik to his very core. I don't know how Aelin can bare the torture. Her people should know what she's enduring for them. (hide spoiler)]

I've got my copy since yesterday! I'm planning on reading not more than 3 chapters a day for the same reason as you give, Charlie.

Chapter 5 So Lorcan didn't crawl after Meave, he was actually going after Aelin. He still betrayed them, I won't forgive that. But maybe I don't hate him half as much now.

Rowan's pain is killing me. I want him to have his dream, he deserves that family so much.

Chapter 7

Dorian has a backbone! He was my least favourite character in previous books but he's definitely interesting. My theory is he'll learn from the spider how to shapeshift and sneak into Morath disguised as a slave. (hide spoiler)]

Should we ask the mods to change the date, so that it can count for our competition?

It will usually still count since we're buddy reading it, regardless of the thread we're using but we can ask for a change if you want :)

Chapter 12 complete (view spoiler)[ Oh Aelin! I'm sitting in the break room at work and I'm actually crying. I can't stand this. Rowan needs to rescue her, immediately!

I can't believe she nearly broke that box. She is strong and fierce and one day she's going to rip Cain's throat out, I hope it's soon. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 29 (view spoiler)[ That was incredible!! Holy crap. I was so so scared for Aelin. And Fenrys! My heart is breaking for him.

I'm hoping Aelin and co get back to Aedion and co in time. All those months of shored up power, she could kill them all. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[The part about the prince and the princess has a bit of a dark side, a bit of despair and it was well written. It holds expectations to the upcoming events. I'm wondering why there hasn't been an attack of Erawan yet. I can't imagine that he's waiting when the winter passes? Also, how long will Lysandra keep her disguise up? (hide spoiler)]

I think Lysandra will keep it up as long as she possible can, until it's clear she's not Aelin. Though I'm hoping Aelin will get back before that happens. (hide spoiler)]

@Saar it's amazing! I've hit the 400 page mark and I've had to put it down, I'm too scared to continue! I can't take another 600 pages of this tension!

I'm at chapter 12 now, the Dutch translation. I was able to make a bit of progress today. Husband and son got the flue, so it was very quiet at home. Thoughts so far :(view spoiler)[everyone is everywhere at this moment. I'm wondering how and when they are coming together. I think Dorian is having a really dark side and I'm curious on how this will turn out. He asked Gavin of he was human and he didn't answer. So, that says enough. Thankfully Aelin has Fenrys by her side. This is a thousand times worse then Endovier. I don't think this will break her, but I do hope that she gives Cairn what he deserves. Also, this part is more mature, more serious with a lot of dark emotions. So far, this is my favorit part of the series. (hide spoiler)]

About Dorian: (view spoiler)[I think that Manon brings the worse out of him, or maybe for a bit, but it feels like he's getting power hungry. What he did with Cyrene. I didn't think that he would kill her. Maybe he's an out of control projectile at this moment. (hide spoiler)]
About Manon: (view spoiler)[It wasn't pretty what she did to the Crochan, but I think she had no other way to prove the urgency of the situation. I wonder what she'll do to prove that she's the rightfull witchqueen of the Crochan. (hide spoiler)]

About Lysandra and the rest of the party: (view spoiler)[It was a good decision to go south, but I wonder if Nox is to be trusted. I feel that it's a matter of time before the betrayal of Lysandra is noticed. What if she get asked to use her fire? And now Erawan knows that this isn't Aelin. It can go both ways: he leaves them alone or he's going to hunt them. (hide spoiler)]

About Aelin: (view spoiler)[I think Maeve just told her the censored version of her past with the 3 Valg - brothers. I hope that Aelin can convert the pressure that she is feeling inside into a burst of power to escape, but I fear the worst. She could get a ring around her neck and what will happen then? I agree that Dorian (view spoiler)[ is a bit out of control, Manon really brings out his darker side. That being said, that's what we need in the war, it's about time he stepped up.

I think Lysandra and Aedion can only trust each other. Its a shame they can't do that at the moment, they really need to pull together.

I think Aelin is going to be broken by this or she'll emerge stronger, I'm scared to see which! (hide spoiler)]

No rush, Katie. Like Charlie said, a month or 2. I got caught up in other readings and I want to give this one my whole attention.
