Known as the #1 entertainment agency in South Korea, FU Entertainment takes great pride in their idol groups which historically have not only led domestic trends but have proved themselves to be true Hallyu icons. Though they prioritize intensive training, FU Entertainment is often accused of inhumane treatment and producing machine-like idols with an overly manufactured sound.

Note: Korean diaspora (e.g., Korean-American, Korean-Canadian, etc.) are not counted as "foreign" members in group specifications.





JUNSULEUL MUKGO SANEUN GORAE ('03) / 5 / 30-35 / CALFS / BLUE / HUG / 주문

Originally with a member for each of the seven seas, JMSG (an intialism for the whale that eats legends), JMSG quickly rose to fame as one of the greatest idol groups of all time—until 2008, when two of the members filed lawsuits, resulting in a split in the group. Despite a setback which was once thought to be career-ending, JMSG quickly reestablished their position as the best of the best, still the pride of FU after 15 years.

JMSG is still active in their 15th year after debut. They are a performance unit, meaning that any solo activities are extremely limited and they spend the majority of the year on tour. All members served in the military at the same time (2015-2017), and thus have returned to life as full-time performers.

H.O.P.E. ('04) / 4 / 30-35 / HOPEFULS / WHITE / TOO GOOD / MY EVERYTHING

H.O.P.E. are a group that consists of four girls (representing Heart, Optimism, Purity, and Enthusiasm) who came together with one hope to share their voices with the world. They debuted in 2004 and were doomed from the start: marketed as the "female JMSG", they were met with hate from fans of the country's #1 boy band, and their albums were boycotted for years. Even so, not all the members have given up—they are still a group.

Though they haven't been active as a group since 2009, H.O.P.E. is technically still a group, occasionally performing at company-wide concerts. Despite this, the members almost exclusively work independently of each other, in acting, solo music careers, variety, and otherwise.

In 2005, no one thought a new boy group could live up to JMSG's name. But in 2018, true to their name, E.V.E.R. (Every Voice, Every Reason) really do seem like they're going to last forever. From scandals to near-death experiences to the loss of five of their original members, the group is still going strong. With a delicate balance between group and solo activities, E.V.E.R. has thrived as one of the top boy groups.

E.V.E.R., once a 15-member group, now have 10 members who each maintain both solo and group careers. Some act, some have solo albums, and some are famous variety personalities, but all come together to promote as a group at least once per year.

Billed in 2007 as the idol goddesses of South Korea, A*MUSE (A* standing for their all-star potential and muse referring to the nine members as well as the nine muses found in Greek mythology) have lived up to their name, becoming the Nation's Girl Group. As the most successful girl group in kpop history, A*MUSE have yet to be replaced in the eyes of the public, even eleven years after debut.

Now averaging one album per year, A*MUSE have an unbeatable brand reputation even when they're taking vacation. The members have by now ventured into various solo careers in entertainment as well as in fashion, business, and otherwise, but still come back together—even if it's just to keep up the image.

The name TEUK represents the special and unique qualities of the five boys who debuted in 2008. Like their company seniors, TEUK too have become successful in their own careers. Though their career has been more domestically centered and thus less globally driven than their seniors, TEUK are known for producing their music and the first and only FU Entertainment group to break the "manufactured" stereotype.

With members who are able to make music, it doesn't come as a surprise that all of the members of TEUK have solo albums. While they do promote as a group at least once per year, they also are more than a little busy with solo activities, most of which revolve around music.

Debuting in the shadow of A*MUSE, FBNC (short for Fibonacci, the name of the girls with the golden ratio of talent and visuals) have had a less than perfect career. Though their songs cannot be considered failures, they have had fleeting success as a group, and as a result they have turned to solo careers, promoting together only occasionally.

For the past four years, FBNC have had no group activities. While some of the members lead successful solo careers, others struggle to make their name known to the public. Some wonder, what's the point? FBNC wonder, too.

In true FU Entertainment fashion, ENDO debuted in 2012 to become the nation's next favorite boy group. And they have—as of 2018, they are at the very peak of success in the current idol world. The group also features multiple various foreign members, when previously the only foreign FU idols had been Chinese. Though two of the foreign members have departed from a group, the remaining members' popularity has not been held back by the lawsuits.

With 2-3 comebacks per year, ENDO are at the top of their game as an idol group. Some of the members have solo careers, though most of them only participate in the group promotions.

Any girl group debuted in FU has to struggle with following up the Nation's Girl Group, and Cake Pop is no exception. With a more eccentric and quirky style, their songs have been hit-or-miss with the public, and the group hasn't seen much growth over the past four years. In an attempt to revive public interest, FU Entertainment has recently announced the addition of three new members.

The original 4 Cake Pop members have done a few solo activities, enough that the group isn't a complete failure, but not enough for them to become a hit, either. Three new members have been announced as additions, though they have not officially debuted through a song yet.

As the company's most ambitious, experimental, and some might claim doomed for failure group, REVO (short for Revolution as well as Rebel) is FU Entertainment's first venture into a more hip hop-oriented image far from the vocal-based groups they're known for. Their concept of an unlimited lineup has also been met with more than a little skepticism.

Currently, there are 18 members, though there can theoretically be an infinite of members added. As one might expect, there's no real way for the company to promote all of these members equally, and as such, while some have become popular, others are virtually unknown.
