Just announced. Amazon have picked up John Thanes Shadow of the barbarian for development as a TV series !! Can't wait. Shadow of the Barbarian: A Legend Will Rise

Wow, that’s pretty big. I know they were developing a Conan series that eventually fell through. I hope this one works out.

Have this on my to read list, but am unfamiliar with the author/work much admittedly.

I do know Netflix and Amazon are securing TV/movie rights much faster than can produce. So as much as I'd like to see more S&S on the screen, I imagine that this is just part of the intellectual property war/strategy.

Also, considering that this was an Amazon published property, with a lot less fame than Conan, I wonder if the strategy was "we can do a Conan style show, without paying for Conan or being bound by story requirements?
