I saw the book list notification and thought I had missed something. Thanks Jason for sorting that out.
Paul and Jason combo. You could take on the world. Yay. Thank goodness Jo is there for the balance. Thank you Paul. Very much.
Nice one, Gonna try for 21 books, this is really going to get me out of my comfort zone.Cheers for sorting this out.
Me too. I’ve read a lot of award winners and found many lacking so will aim for 10. Do they have to be the number one winner or on the short list?
Ok. Will def do 10 as an aim, although I have lowered my sights overall this year as found I was rushing books last year just to complete them on occasions. Back to savouring them this year, I hope

Ideally, but if you're stuck pick another from the shortlisted books

Pat - I am going to have a couple of nominees rather than winners eg. science, simply because there are a couple of categories I won't go near otherwise - some reading on a wider level/range better than none in my view!

I thought I found one or two via book club choice plus another book I came upon in library. I mentioned this to a book club member. This month.....a Booker prize winner. She said, look more carefully. The book isn’t the winner. It’s the author who has, at sometime, been a booker prize winner. She said she had been caught out before. Grr the tricks of the book world. Remain on one completed, again.
That's easily done, Pat!
I have managed 3 so far, total coincidence that two of my book club reads have been prizewinners.

Oh, I've just checked on Goodreads and one of my book club books (last one) had a prize! Yay. That's 2.
After a quiet (rare ) day at work. I've discovered that most books I've read since Jan, and am reading at present, will fit into this challenge. I had time to look up each one and discovered most were short/long - listed/prize winners. I can't believe it. What luck....
First book finished for this challenge. Nobel Prize Winner's book and what an amazing book it was. Highly recommend Night
You are a faster reader than I, Paul. My choices are luck. Thanks for recommendation Jason. Is it as good as Virginia Woolf novels?
Doing well with books for this challenge. another 5 star book. Down to the Sea in Ships: Of Ageless Oceans and Modern Men

I nearly bought you a copy of that last week to post on...

Haha, Regular copies find their way to me, my dog has been trained to sniff my post to check for tasty or evil packages.
Ooh. One more. The wild places by Robert Macfarlane. A book club book. I knew I joined for a reason....Looks good too.. 6 on my intended list of 10. Phew
On the subject of Robert Macfarlane a) he is a parent at my daughters school (not relevant but interesting fact!) and b) his book Underland is Book of the Week on BBC R4 next week.
How interesting, both facts. I love a claim to fame as much as anyone. I saw the original midsomer murders guy ( his name eludes me atm) in our local town....he doesn’t live too far away. I lived! I would love to listen to book of the week but don’t make the time. Podcasts would have me tied in more knots so I avoid them. However, if I am lucky enough to catch them, I will do so. Thank you Jo. Very kind.

Looking forward to hearing it. Hadn't been able to secure a review copy sadly, but have reserved it from the library

Well my challenge has hit a wall, for the female prize winner I read May We Be Forgiven an absolutely dire book, how the hell did this win? Really need the next book to be better to get me back on track with this challenge.
I am a bit behind too, but have a pile to read in the next month or so. I am not sure about some of these prize-winning selections. There does seem to be a thing about picking a 'worthy winner' rather than the best book
Pat wrote: "Jason. Hope Virginia Woolf was a prize winner. You could read her for light relief"Unfortunately there isn't a worst book ever award category for this challenge so can't read that book Pat.
Just finished a man booker winner The White Tiger I enjoyed this one, nice bit of satire, would recommend this un.
10th book completed. The Black Count: Glory, Revolution, Betrayal, and the Real Count of Monte CristoSuch a good book, never would have picked it up if not for this brilliant challenge.
Sci-Fi award completed The City & the CityDisappointed at the lack of Sci-Fi but still worthy of 5 stars cos it is a brilliant murder mystery.
I am upset this isn't part of a series, Another case would have been good. I will be checking out his other books. Gotta find the next book for the challenge at the library tomorrow. 5 behind at the moment so don't think I'm gonna finish on time.
