An Artist in the Floating World by Kazuo Ishiguro gives a nice glimpse into Japanese culture and it's short so it would be somewhat easy as a challenge book.
Anything by Lisa See is amazing - will fit the historical fiction but will also fit set in Asia and about Asian culture. She has a new book coming out in March or April - super psyched!
I've been meaning to read If You Leave Me for a while now so this is great motivation! It's historical fiction about the Civil War in Korea AND it's a debut author.

For those who have hoopla. under genres I noticed they have one called Asian Voices. I found this to be helpful in finding some great options.
Who knew that all these challenges would get me reading so much more non-fiction....and loving a lot of it. For this one I readThe Milk Lady of Bangalore: An Unexpected Adventure
