Into every generation a Slayer is born…

Nina and her twin sister, Artemis, are far from normal. It’s hard to be when you grow up at the Watcher’s Academy, which is a bit different from your average boarding school. Here teens are trained as guides for Slayers—girls gifted with supernatural strength to fight the forces of darkness. But while Nina’s mother is a prominent member of the Watcher’s Council, Nina has never embraced the violent Watcher lifestyle. Instead she follows her instincts to heal, carving out a place for herself as the school medic.

Until the day Nina’s life changes forever.

Thanks to Buffy, the famous (and infamous) Slayer that Nina’s father died protecting, Nina is not only the newest Chosen One—she’s the last Slayer, ever. Period.

As Nina hones her skills with her Watcher-in-training, Leo, there’s plenty to keep her occupied: a monster fighting ring, a demon who eats happiness, a shadowy figure that keeps popping up in Nina’s dreams…

But it’s not until bodies start turning up that Nina’s new powers will truly be tested—because someone she loves might be next.

One thing is clear: Being Chosen is easy. Making choices is hard.

The musical is definitely in my top 5! But my all time favorite episode is Becoming Part 1 & 2 - the finale of season 2. Gah those episodes kill me every time I watch them!

I don't know if Buffy will actually be in this book but it's set in the same Universe with the same rules.

From what Kiersten White has said was that she was approached with an offer to create a new slayer that exists within the realm of the Buffyverse that Joss created. When she told me this I was just like GIMME GIMME GIMME haha

26%: (view spoiler)[ I AM LOVING THIS BOOK! So with magic gone, Nina was the last activated slayer only she never knew because her mother kept her potential hidden! Also, I hope the demon in Cillian's cellar becomes like a cool sidekick friend (hide spoiler)]

48%: (view spoiler)[ Well we met another Slayer and she wasn't a very nice one. I'm wondering if Nina will every actually meet Buffy seeing as how she keeps seeing Buffy in her dreams. Also, wtf Artemis? Way to be a supportive and understanding sister. (hide spoiler)]

25% (view spoiler)[ I am really loving this book Buffy the Vampire Slayer was one of my favorite TV shows growing up and so far this is great canon to an already great universe. I really love the characters especially Nina and Artemis they have a great sisterly bond with Artemis always protecting Nina. What I really like about Nina is she is the non violent type that heals people that becomes what she has hated because it cost her her Father and figuratively her Mother as well. She is all around an interesting character as are many of the other characters as well. I am liking the plot not much has happened learnt some things about Nina her family and figured she is now the only Slayer. So overall I am really liking this book will read more soon. 49% (view spoiler)[ I am really loving this book it is great to be back into this book's world makes me remember why I loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I really love the characters Nina is of course learning more about what she is and finding out many hard truths like a really terrible Slayer named Cosimano what a terrible piece of work. The other characters are interesting I like Artemis for the most part and I really do like Leo and the other characters. I am liking the plot it is moving along at a good pace never a dull moment. 73% (view spoiler)[ I am loving this book so much once the story started moving there is never any slow parts. I really love the characters especially Nina she gets something unexpected her relationship with her sister is not going well and some people are dying and she needs to find how why and who is doing it. She is starting to get used to this Slayer thing it is all very interesting. So overall I love this book and will continue soon (hide spoiler)]

100% (view spoiler)[I really loved this book I will be reading the next book soon. I loved all of the characters so much especially Nina and Leo hopefully that goes somewhere by the next book. I really loved the plot many things were found out Nina was changed in many ways the Watchers themselves has changed a whole lot. So overall I loved this book and will be reading book 2 soon. At first, I wasn't sure what to think about Nina and her anti-Buffy attitude, until I realized that she was the daughter of one of the good watchers. While the BtVS audience largely saw things from Buffy's POV, we got to see enough to know that a good number of them shouldn't be in charge of anyone's life. If she had known about the Cruciamentium, and Quentin Travers' attitude that disregarded the lives of each individual slayer ("The Council fights evil. The Slayer is the instrument with which we fight"), would she have a different POV? (hide spoiler)]

33% (view spoiler)[ They brought up the Cruciamentium and it horrified Nina. Good. I'll be really interested in what she thinks when she gets the whole Slayer-Watcher picture. They should be working together. I like Nina, Artemis, and their friends. They vaguely remind me of Buffy and the Scooby Gang. But who is the Hunter? And what does that have to do with the prophecy? 66% (view spoiler)[ Poor Nina. She's right, and no one believes her. Is Honora evil or just over-zealous? What does the prophecy mean? As much as she hates Buffy, I think the older slayer could be a big help to Nina right now, and not just for the demon-slaying parts. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I really liked this book. It felt a lot like it was really part of the Buffyverse. I liked the inclusion of Buffy and Faith. I wonder if they show up in person in the sequel? Hopefully the Watchers will embrace Nina's view for the future. I think Buffy would largely agree, since she (usually) only went after demons who were hurting people. (hide spoiler)]
