Thanks for the input, Jim! I looked at Baen's website and they do make a large number of complete SF works available for free. It operates closely enough to the principles of an SF magazine that I'm willing to consider it as interchangeable. Orbit, as far as I can tell--the modern one, not the one that published five issues or so in 1953-54 and then folded--does not make SF available for free, just excerpts. Amazon does that. I decided not to count it. Complete works only. I also don't want to list every site that offers free SF. If I did that, I'd just be duplicating this admittedly very cool website: https://www.freesfonline.de/
Sorry, thought Orbit did. I must have gotten some stuff through a special. I know Baen has sucked me in a couple of times. They used to have a site where you could download entire CDs with free stuff like extras to books, audio versions, & the books themselves. The got me into the Honor Harrington series that way. Here's their CD library. I don't think they've added to it in some time, though.

If you go to baen.com and click on the free library link, they have tons of stuff: https://www.baen.com/allbooks/categor...
Sorry to say that Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic is closing its doors. http://www.intergalacticmedicineshow....
That is sad news indeed. I have to disagree with the editorial comment announcing the news: we do not currently have so many SF magazines that we can easily afford to lose another, especially not one of the quality of Intergalactic. The glory days for SF magazines were the 1950s. The stature of the authors being printed in those magazines was so much higher than the ones being printed in today's. It's understandable, I suppose, in that being published in SF magazines today is not all that monetarily rewarding.

Never had much luck with that one. Nor with card, in recent years.... 🤨

From various collections and anthologies. One thing about Baen ebooks, you avoid the eye-watering cover art! Which, to be fair, has been toned down in the Toni Weisskopf (sp?) era. I used to review quite a lot of books for her, and got even more freebies in the mail! Lot to be said for free books.... 🚀 😻 💃 🤠
And Richard Cissée is good at including these in his https://www.freesfonline.de/ site. Which you should bookmark, if you haven't already. Amazing labor-of-love... ❤️ ⚡️ ❤️

Of course, Sturgeon's Law still applies -- but a LOT of the recent award-winning shorts come from the "Free" mags.
Which of course, aren't really free -- I really need to kck in with a few $$. Well, you know: retiree, fixed income... Still -- 💸

For my 2019 New Year's resolution, I want to try to stay more current in the field. Oh no, trouble already. I just realized I know very few of the current big names. I need to read more widely in more current SF.
I therefore did some quick research and came up with 15 different resources of current publishers of SF magazines, either online, print, or both. These are probably the most prominent. Am I missing any really good ones you know of?
SCIENCE FICTION MAGAZINES
