Damn it. I have to hurry up. Sebastian thought to himself as he rushed out of the diner. He had to go grab a bite in his human form since he couldn’t always depend on the dog food Karly provided him. But he got sidetracked, he knew he had to be back home in his dog form before Karly went to sleep. She would worry about him if he was missing for too long. Passing an alleyway, he decided to go down there as a short cut.

The plastic bag in his hand swung back and forth as he moved, holding the leftovers that he had. He didn’t like to waste food, so if there were any leftovers he would take it home, sneak into the house without anyone knowing, and leave it in the fridge for when he got hungry and transformed into his human form. Sometimes the maid left it there, sometimes they didn’t if they didn’t know who brought it in. Regardless, he had to always try. As he moved, he was able to pick up on a scent, just like Reka had taught him. Their meetings in the forest have been really helpful and he managed to strengthen his skills. He stopped, sniffing the air, and looked around. There was another person with him, but he couldn’t see them. “Who’s here?” He called out, wanting to be safe than sorry.

Sebastian waited for a sound, maybe movement, or speaking. But nothing. He looked around the alleyway. He was almost positive that he had picked up on a scent. As he looked around again, he noticed something or someone. A pale hand stood out in contrast of the darkness around them. He took a few steps closer, but was careful not to get too close. “Who are you?” He asked as he peered around the dumpster to see who he would find.

Sebastian’s eyes fell on a very pale figure with long back hair. The person looked very tired and almost exotic? It wasn’t every day you find someone that pale surrounded by black. Maybe the person was albino? Any worry he had earlier left, and he moved closer to the person. “Are you okay?” He asked him.

Taking a risk, Sebastian kneeled in front of him. Even though in the back of his mind, he knew he had to go home, his heart couldn’t leave until he made sure this person was okay. “You don’t look fine.” He tells him. “Do you have some place to be?” He asked him.

Sebastian always has a soft spot for people in need, because he understood how it felt to not having anything. He was only to be a shapeshifter and use his powers to find a place. Had he not had them, he would probably still be in the foster system only to have to leave to be on his own. Looking down to the bag he had, Sebastian decided to say, “I have some left over food if you want...? I’m Sebastian by the way.” He showed him the bag which had half a slice of grilled cheese and a few fries.

Sebastian waited for Kailor to take the food, but he didn’t. Maybe he wasn’t hungry? But then his stomach growled as if to answer his question. “Here. Take it. I already ate.” Sebastian tells him, place it on the guys lap. “So.... how long have you been here?” He asked him, knowing it probably wasn’t right to ask him this question.

Sebastian meant to ask about the alleyway, but when he brought up the town, he was curious about that too. “Both? If you don’t mind me asking.” He tells him. He was glad to see the man start to eat.

Sebastian really wished there was a way he could help him. He knew his position and didn’t want him to be in it. But what could he do? He didn’t have his own place. This was one of those times where he wished he did. “Do you not have a place to stay?” Sebastian asked him, looking around them to the dark and dirty place. “You shouldn’t stay here. Here, c’mon. I’ll go buy you some more food.” Sebastian stood up in the moonlight and held his hand out for him to use.

“Don’t worry about it,” Sebastian assures him. He didn’t mind helping people at all. Really. If he could give his kidney to some who needed it, he probably would. He was just selfless like that. So even though he was going to be late for Karly, he just thought about this guy. After taking a hold of his hand, he pulled him into the moonlight, getting a better look at him.

Sebastian briefly allowed his eyes to look out the alleyway and to the street as he spoke. “There’s a diner just a few feet away that has the best cheeseb-” Sebastian’s words caught off when he turned back to look at Kailor. His eyes widened at the sight of the guy... the thing in front of him. “Shit!” He cursed and quickly pulled his hand away. “What the-“ he backs away and looks over the person who had been Kailor a few seconds again, but now looked totally different.

Sebastian looked over the guy, who was now more of a skeleton. What the hell? He was just normal a few seconds ago? He stared at him in confusion and fear. He knew this town was cursed, but what was he supposed to be? Even though the guy had been nothing but friendly, he didn’t trust him, especially when he looked like that. He knew he shouldn’t judge though. Still, he kept his distance. “What are you?” He asked.

“A skeleton spirit?” He repeated, wondering what the hell that was. He’s never heard of such thing and didn’t even know how they become what they are. Hearing him though, Sebastian realized how he was making him feel. He cursed himself, feeling bad, but was still creeped out. “Ah... it’s okay. I mean.... I’m a shapeshifter.” He ends up telling him to make him feel better.

“ugh... yeah.” He agreed, noticing how things were different now that they found out about each other. Had none of this happened, they would probably be eating and talking about school or something. The curse always made things complicated. “So I’m guessing you can’t walk out like that... right?” He finally asked, talking about his appearance. Humans couldn’t see him like that, if would expose him and certainly cause trouble.

“I’m sorry to break it to you.... but.” He pointed at him, “it’s kind of hard not to notice you.” He admits. Anyone that wasn’t blind would be an idiot not to notice Kailor. But after having to say that, Sebastian kind of felt bad. “Listen... maybe it’s better if you stay hidden for now. I’ll give you money so whenever it is you can go out in public, you could buy you something to eat.” He suggested, not wanting to leave without helping.

Sebastian looked at the bag of food that he gave him. He knew it would be enough to help him, despite what he was saying. The guy has been here in town for a while, so what are the chances that he’ll be able to get a job now and not before? Still, Sebastian didn’t want to pressure him. “Are you sure? I don’t want you to think I pity you or anything. I’ve been in your place. I’ll just feel guilty for leaving without helping.” He explains. He moves to grab what he had in his pocket, pulling out a twenty and holding it out to him.

“If we cross paths again, sure.” Sebastian tells him, though he wasn’t sure if he wanted that to happen. But he kind of did, just to check on the guy. “But don’t worry about it if we don’t. It was nice meeting you Kailor.” He smiled at him and started to back out of the alleyway.
