Addy | 5121 comments So far its Addy and Eleven. Starting tomorrow, but can wait if need be. Please join us! Its short and a classic!

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments I have no business adding anything to my currently reading pile but I'll start today anyway. It's a perfect back to school read.

Any remmed books that have serial killers in them

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Recommendation I mean

Anthony Ebenrick (AnthonyEbenrick) | 16 comments Love Rage! Great book. A lot of books with Serial Killers in them. Depends on what you are looking for? I write about serial killers and both my books are free today, but if you are looking for more main stream I would recommend American Psycho, Red Dragon, Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, and since its early that's the best I got for you.

Anthony Ebenrick (AnthonyEbenrick) | 16 comments Oh Yeah, the Dexter series also.

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank those will work I've just started to explore so these will work thanks

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments sorry Addy, I couldn't find it. I didn't know it was out of print! did you see those Amazon prices?!

message 9: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments Its ok Latasha. I totally understand. I was lucky to find it for 4 bucks at a thrift store. I've looked for it on amazon b4 and saw the ridiculous prices. Its def hard to find.

Off the top of my head, I'd suggest checking out Not Comin' Home to You by Lawrence Block. The only cautions are (a) that it is over 40 years old and (b) I am a self-admitted fanboy of ol' Larry, that latter meaning my perspective is not as objective as it might otherwise be.

BTW, Stephen King is also a huge Lawrence Block fanboy, make of that what you will.

And Rage isn't just "out of print." King has gone out of his way to suppress publication. I had it as part of the The Bachman Books, now, alas unavailable. And my own copy surrendered when I had to downsize. :(

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments Latasha wrote: "sorry Addy, I couldn't find it. I didn't know it was out of print! did you see those Amazon prices?!"

I can help you out with an ebook if you want to PM me your email address.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments I can't believe I gave away my copy of The Bachman Books. I'm pissed that King is censoring his own material. After a great novel is published, it should remain in publication no matter what tragedies may occur decades in the future.

If an author ran off the road and got tortured by Kathy Bates would we be banning Misery?

Have you read the Luther Kite Series written by Blake Crouch? Desert Places (Andrew Z. Thomas/Luther Kite Series, Book 1) by Blake Crouch
This is the first one in the series, and I've read almost everything ha's written

Addy | 5121 comments I know what you mean eleven. When I read about king pulling Rage because of the school violence incidents, I was like why? And then thought id never have a chance to read Rage. Thank goodness there are still copies floating around for the taking.

message 15: by Adam (new) - rated it 5 stars

Adam Light (goodreadscomadamlight) | 964 comments I still have my original copy of The Bachman Books in hardcover, though it is worn and slightly tattered.

message 16: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments Mine had an intro by Stephen King. I guess Rage was initially called Getting It On and I sure know why now. I'm on ch10 and its playing like a movie in my head. Scary stuff!

Yeah, the price is kind of steep for me too.

I just found The Bachman Books in paperback, so I ordered that set. It appears to still have Rage in it. I'll see when it comes. Hope you're all still reading!

Addy | 5121 comments Ch19 was brutal! Can't imagine being interrogated like that!

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I'm making my way through this. it's been harder for me to read than I expected. I don't usually read realistic horror. there is enough of that on tv everyday.

I'm supposed to be getting my copy tomorrow.

I've never read anything from Stephen king is he good

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I'm new to him as well. I've read the shining & listened to the audiobook Duma Key. I liked both of those. I read/listened to them with our group. If it wasn't for this group, I don't know if I ever would've read Stephen King. I had a bad time reading Christine when I was way too young for it.

message 25: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments Yeah, same for me. I don't think id read SK if it weren't for this group. So far I've read under the dome, the shining, and Dr sleep. I realized I was really missing out, because he really is a great writer.

message 26: by Judith (new)

Judith | 1 comments IMO, SK's best books are Salem's Lot, The Stand, and The Shining -- his earlier stuff --

Addy | 5121 comments I'm on ch22. Where is everybody else at? I'll prob finish tomorrow. Its very realistic. Just glad I don't have kids in highschool right now, otherwise, it might be harder for me to read.

I'm on chapter 14, how his parents met.

message 32: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments Just got done ch22....kinda makes me sad. I think that Stephen King was trying to capture what bullying can do to a kid...and in the end, that's what the message is.

message 33: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments Almost to ch26. Its hard to put this down!

message 34: by Addy (new) - added it

Addy | 5121 comments I'm on pg 141, so close to finishing, but I'll stop. Alot of these places, bring back memories. I used to live near Bangor and my husband is from ME. Its kinda neat I guess.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I'm on chapter 21 or 48%. I really need to get on the ball & read more!

I finished today. Quite the experience. (view spoiler)

Addy | 5121 comments I just finished myself...lol. Talk about a profound, mind boggling book that totally went Lord of the Flies on me. Wow!

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments I hate it when I miss a Goodreads update and suddenly, 9 days later, I'm still on page 5. I let this one slip but it's short enough I should be able to catch up soon.

It's still possibly my favorite King story. I'd hate to see it whitewashed from history.

This was an interesting one. It's not very long, so you should be able to catch up.

Latasha (latasha513) | 11983 comments I finished it. It was ok. I didn't hate it.

11811 (Eleven) (11811) | 1561 comments I finally blew through the rest of it today. Still possibly my favorite King story. Profound dialogue and attitudes that remind me of The Catcher in the Rye
