Reading with Jason and Jami discussion
Welcome to the group!
I started two books this week that I’ll count for 2019 since I won’t finish by tomorrow 😆 None Like Him by Jen Wilkin and Susie: the life and legacy of SusannahSpurgeon.
I have 7-8 books I’m currently reading and I doubt I can finish more than a couple of them before the New Year starts. I’m also prioritizing books in my Amazon Prime free reads collection since I won’t probably keep Prime. I’ve got some fantastic sounding history books such as 1942, and
I don’t know what happened to my comment. Goodreads glitched on me. But anyways I’ll be reading some historical non fiction first. I’ve added some amazing sounding books to my wishlists and currently reading list that I’m excited to read!
I think my top three to start off the year I want to read are Devoted, The Faithful Parent & A Case for Christ.
I’m currently reading “Lord of the Rings: Return of the King,” by J. R. R. Tolkien. Once I finish that my 1st official book for the year will be “Women of the Word,” by Jen Wilkin.
I can never be in just one book at a time. 😂 I’ll be starting Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life by Donald Whitney, The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs, and Family Worship by Donald Whitney. I’ll probably throw in an audiobook too but don’t know which one I’ll be in yet.
My brother got me a beautiful copy of Ben Hur for Christmas so I'll be starting there, followed quickly by a giant TBR list that I just added a bunch more to :D
Sing!: How Worship Transforms Your Life, Family, and Churchby Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty
Far Above Rubies: The Life of Bethan Lloyd-Jonesby Lynette G. Clark
I am reading Little Women at the moment. I have chosen January to be my month for really intentionally focusing on my marriage, so am looking for a good book on that subject!
I think I'm going to revisit an old friend :) The Love Comes Softly Series followed by the Canadian West series by Janette Oke.....
I just started Make Something Good Today by Erin and Ben Napier and that’ll be my first finished read of 2019 I believe.
I just started reading one of my 2019 books, Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas while I wait for more books to arrive.
Hey all. I'm currently reading Lies Women Believe and I just started listening to Becoming Mom Strong on Audible
I am currently reading The Golden Thread by Darlene Zschech and am starting Shirley by Charlotte Bronte. Then I think I will be moving on to In His Image by Jen Wilkin.
Hi everyone! Happy New Year! I usually read 2-3 books at a time (a fiction, one christian living for my women's bible study group, and one christian living of my own). currently I am reading From Anger to Intimacy (I started it last year but never finished it so restarted it a few days a go) and Hidden Places.
Hello everyone! I'm starting 2019 off with The War That Saved My Life, by Kimberly Brubaker Bradley since I wasn't able to finish it up last night.
I am also taking advantage of my free trial of Prime and reading the book on Chip and Joanna Gaines, and if I can squeeze in some business books before my month is up I’ll do that too!
Just finished a novel. In the middle of Just Open the Door, The Cozy Minimalist, and Miracles. I need a novel to balance it out ;)
I have a couple to finish off, but am making the best use of 30 days of Scribd by listening to some audiobooks. I just started Sarah Mackenzie’s “The Read-Aloud Family”.
my first is "my life in france" by julia child. the random french words sprinkled throughout is a little off-putting, especially when she doesn't provide a translation, or even enough clues surrounding it so that i might guess what the french word means. but it's quaint so far. :)
I am currently in the middle of two books. As Sure As the Dawn by Francine Rivers and Educated by Tara Westover. The next book I’ll be starting is Habits of Grace by David Mathis.
I finished women of the word by Jen Wilken last night and started the good wife's guide bc it was on my kindle app. I'm also reading Manners and Customs of Bible lands and Crazy Love by Francis Chan. I'm listening to Jason's podcast of All of Grace and The Next Page's podcast of Peter Pan. I think that's all! Haha
I am working on finishing Multiply by Francis Chan, catching up on the podcast for The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs, and will probably start Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin next.
I am currently reading "Odd(ly) Enough" by Carolanne Miljavac. Yesterday I created a list with the books I want to read.
I'm starting 2019 with Wild grows the Heather in Devonshire by George MacDonalds and It's Not Supposed to be this Way by Lysa Terkeurst.
Kara wrote: "I just finished All Things New by Lynn Austin :D"I loved that book. Austin is a new favorite author for me, discovered in 2018.
Finished Adorned by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth, Susie by Ray Rhodes jr, and about to finish The Gospel Focus of Charles Spurgeon by Steven J Lawson. All of these are audiobooks, and working on a few print books:You Can Stay Home With Your Kids by Erin Odom and really behind on Come Let Us Adore Him by Paul David Tripp (because I’m savoring it and I’m slower reading physical books). Love the Scribd free two months through jamis podcast info- helping me devour great stuff for free!
I am finishing some books from last year actually lol. One is "Humble Roots" by Hannah Anderson
I did start listening to "The Ministry of Ordinary" by Shannon Martin on Audible too.

Just finished Choosing Gratitude by Nancy Lee DeMoss ✅Currently reading The Key to Deep Change by Dr. Steve Smith, Disciplines of a Godly Woman by Barbara Hughes, and Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis.
I just started listening to Jason's podcast, so I am going through the Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment. I'm also reading through Crazy Love by Francis Chan on kindle and Prayer by Philip Yancey.
Wow, there are so many great books on this list!
I ended up finishing All of Grace, The Expository Genuis of John Calvin, and Crush it last week. And I'm currently reading Reset, Something Rotten, and Lord of Chaos.

Just finished The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis and Pretty Happy by Kate Hudson(not at all Christian, but a nice, non-preachy take on health and body image). Currently reading Kind is the New Classy by Candace Cameron Bure and starting Adorned in the next couple of weeks.

I love Screwtape. Haven't read it in years though. I should do a reread soon!

I love reading these posts! So many good books to add to my to-read list. I just finished Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis. It was my first time reading a book of his and I really enjoyed it.
I’m also working on Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin, The Extraordinary Wife by Martha Peace, and Ridiculous Faith by Shelene Bryan right now.

So to kick it off, why don’t you share what your first read of the year will be? I’ll start: for my first book of 2019, I’ll be re-reading Reset by David Murray.
