My Challenge for 2019 is 48 book since I exceeded last years goal by 2 books. I am currently reading Out of It, a contemporary novel set in Gaza. My taste in books is very eclectic and I hope to read a variety of books in multiple genres.

Good luck! I love eclectic lists -- I look forward to seeing what you choose!

#1 Out of It (finished 1/4) Contemporary novel set in both Gaza and London. By following a family that includes young adult twins, Rashid and Iman, older brother Sabri who is wheelchair bound from injuries sustained in an attack is an overview of the challenges of living in a war torn country.Tiffany my next read is Little Fires Everywhere the January selection of our local library's discussion group.
#2 Little Fires Everywhere ( finished 1/9) A very exciting novel about a free spirited mom and daughter who settle into a very conservative upscale cookie cutter neighborhood.
#3 Scents and Sensibility (finished 1/20) A mystery that is part of a series that is from Chet the dog's perspective.
#11 Shirley Jones: A Memoir (finished 2/18) A brutally honest memoir that covers the very personal aspects of both her personal and professional life from ingenue to character actress and her marriages and romances.
#16 Literary Hoaxes: An Eye-Opening History of Famous Frauds (finished 3/17) This was an informative read that revealed the stories of several literary hoaxers. One wonders what is most incredulous the creativity of the hoaxers or the gullibility of the many readers that have been duped over the centuries. This book had an odd affect on me in that I have decided to read "A Million Little Pieces" a book that was handed down to me by my sister about 10 years ago and was a promoted by Oprah and turned out much to Oprah's embarassment to be a hoax. The discussion has piqued my interest and I have finally decided to read this book that may otherwise have sat another 10 years on my bookshelf.
#19 A Million Little Pieces (finished 3/28) Even though this book has been discovered to be a hoax there are truths in the capacity of human suffering in the struggle of addiction.
#20 Hoda: How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathy Lee ( finished 3/31) Hoda Kotb's wonderful autobiography.
#27 Coping with Compulsive Eating (finished 5/9) I am going through a period of stress and this book helped me to understand different aspects of compulsive eating and gave me some advice on how to gain control over this problem.
#45 Flirting with French: How a Language Charmed Me, Seduced Me, Seduced Me and Nearly Broke My Heart ( finished 11/24)
#46 Marilyn : A Life in Pictures ( finished 11/24) A beautiful, pictorial biography of Marilyn Monroe.
#48 The Elements : A New Guide to the Building Blocks of Our Universe (finished 12/13) Going through the elements through grouping rather then sequentially made it easier to understand the complex science of chemistry. The photography was quite beautiful and also made this subject matter more interesting. With this book I have reached my 2019 goal of 48 books.
