I have Toni Tenille's bio on my wish list. It came out about the time they were getting divorced. I wonder if she says anything about the divorce in the bio. Too bad she didnt wait a couple of years to put it out. I'm curious what happened that they would still be so close at the end that she was at his bedside.

Fishface | 2032 comments More interesting than many of us realize, I suspect. I was astonished to find her recently on a list of people who were passing as white their whole lives. That was a huge secret to keep for someone of her generation. I wonder what else was going on there that we never heard about?

" According to Wikipedia, Channing's mother Adelaide Glaser was German Jewish and her father, George Christian Channing, was African American and German".

Nowadays nobody would blink an eye at her heritage but back then even being 1/3 African American could probably sinks someone's career.

message 10: by Fishface (new)

Fishface | 2032 comments Oh, she'd have a career, but never as a leading lady opposite a white man.

My poinsetta just died and it was all my fault- it was so beautiful but of course I forgot for one week not to water it and I came into the living room and all the leaves were dead! It was so pretty prior to that!

Really they are so cheap that once they start to look bad I toss them and get a new one next year. Usually they get long and leggy and look terrible anyway.

Selina (literatelibrarian) | 3104 comments Aw I had a gerbera a friend gave me for Christmas and same thing, it collapsed, I forgot to water it, I planted it out after that but it didn't survive.

I think orchids are a better bet, they can tolerate a bit of neglect with their fleshy roots, just keep them indoors out of direct sun.

Succulents are also fool-proof.

Interesting obit, which said she was interviewed for this obituary! Asked the question about Mr Onassis, she said she had no regrets. Huh. Her life was rather sad but I guess she got to live it up amongst the rich and famous.

I think it's a misprint. I think they meant to write 'his' instead of 'this'. I had to read it three times before I figured it out.

They had pictures of all four in the article and in one of the captions had all the names wrong.

Just a few days ago the radio station I listen to in the morning had a trivia question that was the name of the 3 of the 4 Monkees. The caller had 5 seconds to answer and the money was up around $600. The caller didnt even know one of them. I rarely know the answer to the trivia questions so I never call but I wish I would have called that day. But when the prize gets that high you cant get through anyway.
