With all the chat about the World Fantasy Awards removing Lovecraft as their icon award figure, I thought it might be appropriate to read one of his short stories. The Tree isn't his usual fare. It's a very short story and not only supernatural but also quite puzzling. I liked it because it takes place on a mountain and, well, if you know me, you know I love the supernatural powers of mountains and summits.Here you go. Lovecraft's "The Tree." I doubt you'll observe olive trees quite the same again.
