How about The Jews' Beech. Anette von Droste-Huelshoff is not well known outside of Germany, but especially for my generation, this was a MUST READ in every German school. Really interesting, sensitive little novella.
May I suggest another criteria for nominations? Make sure the book you are nominating is readily available in print and ebook. This was a problem we had with The Adventure of the Christmas Pudding. Thankfully, someone found a free version online and shared the link, but I saw the link too late to read it last month. So please, make sure people are going to be able to find the book you are nominating. Thanks!
