When I was about 13 got into really good chapter books that helped ease my stress from school and constantly going to doctors, I knew then as soon as I found books I like I became addicted and wanted to read almost anything I got my hands on heck I got 50 some odd books on Kindle Fire and I have more paperback and hardcover scattered to read as well they are just what make me happy, I am thankfully not a horder for it either.

Nice :)
Nice :)
When I was in second grade, my teacher basically told my parents that I was a crap reader and I needed to take some remedial classes. Some papers were signed, a conference was held, and I was swept away to a classroom every day during recess and forced to hone my skills. At first, I was pretty bitter about the whole ordeal, but I managed to get over it when I realized that reading was actually quite fun.
By third grade, I'd moved to a new, bigger school and discovered that I was reading more than all of my other classmates. By sixth grade, I was known as "that girl who loves books/sniffs pages." Now, it's just common knowledge that I hold a book in my hand everywhere I go (Including the bathroom. No judgement!)

I've always grown up loving to read, so when I finally got into the books surrounded by fandoms and amazingness it was only natural to get sucked in and become addicted. So honestly, I have no clue when my current day obsession began, but since then (whenever then was) it hasn't stopped. :D

I had a pile of books she'd read to me every night. She was only planning on reading maybe one or two books a night, but I'd run for another book and beg her to read that.
When I started school, I stopped reading. It wasn't until 7th or 8th grade where I started reading again.
I had recieved a summer reading list, I had to read a book over the summer for school. I ended up choosing Airborn by Kenneth Oppel.... It's now one of my all time favorite books. I also found out that there's going to be a movie! Ever since then, I've been reading non stop.

I may have read the cute Dr. Suess books a time or two, and I came across a few in Middle School that I surprisingly enjoyed, but I didn't catch Reader Fever until I accidentally watched Twilight, the movie. I know, I know! But, here's the thing, when my friend and I went to see it, I thought I was about to watch a movie based off the show The Twilight Zone. I mean, all I knew about it was it had vampires, which seemed legit, right? I was mislead, obviously. However, I greatly enjoyed the movie and really wanted to know what was going to happen next so I read New Moon (I skipped the first book since I had seen the movie already, but I later found out that was a mistake). I remember getting so into it that I flew through the last three in less than a week. I even went back a read it over again, but this time starting from the first one. I was completely hooked!
Then came The Mortal Instruments, Vampire Academy, Sweep, House of Night, The Darkest Powers, and many others! My friends and family couldn't believe it (I was such a book-hater before that I would've burned a library down for fun if given the opportunity). Talk about a metamorphosis!
And though I don't think of Twilight as my favorite series anymore, I have a lot of thanks to give to that series. Otherwise, I don't know who I'd be now. Hell, I could've been a pyromaniac library killer! So, yeah. Twilight had it's bonuses in it's heyday ;)

Twilight was such a huge part of my evolution as a reader. It sounds stupid, but up until Twilight, I only read middle grade books. I read the books before the movies came out though, so I didn't have to sorry about skipping or anything (but usually I read the books first anyway).

That doesn't sound stupid at all. It's awesome that you read at all!
When I first started, I had no idea what to read next (this was before I discovered Goodreads, mind you) that I only read what Walmart had to offer in the YA section. Even then, I was still picky and only read PNR. Also, I didn't know how to keep track of all that I read, so I ended up making YouTube videos of the images of each series I read. It was a hard-knock life before this site showed up! Lol

I've always been like a book savant for all the books I own. I know if I bought it, if someone gave it to me, where it is on my shelves (or really at all times), etc. But before Goodreads, I mostly just bought books mindlessly on the bookstore. I'm still in love with PNR, but Goodreads opened me up to some pretty great contemporary too.
Now, I have issues buying books at Walmart because I've basically read them all. :)

Omg! I know! I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't splurged on a Kindle. Just the freebies alone have given me so many books and series that I would've never known. I've discovered many great authors that are hidden gems, too! Best investment ever.
My first books were Dr. Suess,Baby Sitters Club by Ann M. Martin,Matilda and few others I read a lot as a young girl but my addiction got heavier at 13 due to what I went through.
