The book Artemis is a book that takes place in an unspecified point in the future That jazz is going to. Jazz Bashara is a 26-year-old woman who lives in Artemis, the moon's first and only settlement, so she basically achieved something while going there. She and her father moved there from Saudi Arabia when she was six years old, while he was working as a welder. The book takes place in the 2080s and is set in Artemis the only city in Artemis. This book follows the life of porter and smuggler Jasmine "Jazz" Bashara as she gets caught up in a conspiracy for control of the city Artemis. So she wants to know more about Artemis but many people are stopping her from learning about the only city on the moon. These people want to do that because they want to be the only ones knowing about it.

I really liked the book -- to the point I couldn't put it down so read it in a day. I liked the character Jazz -- and the aspect of how smart she was but chose to be a smuggler rather than using her incredible intellect in more orthodox ways. But that aspect brought to mind that with today's business climate jobs are very exportable and getting an education/degree doesn't guarantee you a job, let alone a job in your field of knowledge There will always be room for smugglers and that role isn't exportable. I also thought the explanation for allowing her smuggling was very interesting and made some semblance of sense.
