Summary

The Candy Shop war is a book that follows a kid named Nate. He moved to a new town so he doesn’t have any friends yet. Eventually he sees a group of kids riding bikes outside and they have a secret club and he needs to complete a jump on his bike to be in the club. He finally is friends with Tyler, Summer, and Pigeon. They get bullied a little bit after this and Nate doesn’t take it and he gets really mad. One day on there way home from school they stopped at a ice cream and candy store. The owner Mrs. White has jobs for them. Nate is happy to do it but the others dont like it and they all stop. Nate finds out that Mrs White is planning to take over the world. So Nate goes back in time but he doesn’t really do anything. But he finds out info and puts a candy in Mrs. White’s youth potion and when she drank it she turned into a kid that couldn’t remember anything. Now she is in the club with everyone else.

Conflict

The problem starts when Nate and his friends find themselves in an ice cream and candy store and the owner Mrs. White wants them to do weird jobs for her. She wants them to rob a museum and a grave to get pieces of a map to the fountain of youth. This is a external man vs. man conflict. The conflict starts when they tell Mrs. White there done helping her. Because of that Mrs. White hires a group of bullies to finish what they started. Nate and his friends find out that Mrs. White is planning on taking over the world when she gets younger. The problem continues when Nate goes back in time to try to tell his old self not to even go into the candy store but he couldn't do it in time. As a consequence Mrs. White makes one of his friends (pigeon) go grab the fountain of youth water and in doing so makes pigeon turn very old. Mrs. White’s other followers bring her the youth water and she drinks it in front of Nate. The Problem is resolved when Nate secretly put a memory charm candy in the water. In doing so Mrs. White turned into a kid but had no memory of anything. In the end the young Mrs. White is now friends with Nate and Pigeon is no longer old. Because of these problems Nate learned that you don't need to go on life threatening adventures you just need to have fun with your friends. Brandon Mull wanted teen readers to learn that you shouldn't take candy from strangers or to not just people you don't know.

Opinion
In my opinion The Candy Shop War is a pretty good book. But it got slow in some parts. One reason why I thought it was kinda good is it always had something to do. The never had to find trouble it was just there and they needed to fix it. One reason why I didn't think it was good is it was a little long I think some parts could have been left out. I think it was a very good book still I just think it should have been a little shorter that's all.
