Laurel (laurelstories) | 52 comments Can you recommend me a book with a very mind-blowing plot twist? Thank you in advance!

message 2: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) I don't think I have read a book with a mind-blowing plot twist. I need to read one.

message 3: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) I would love a recommendation for classics that aren't entirely boring. Sorry, to people who like classics, but it is so hard for me to get into them. But, I do need to read them.

message 4: by Rosie (new)

Rosie Here are my personal suggestions, Harper (or Nicole? However you like to be referred to as): Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen (got a little boring in the middle, but I loved it)
or
Emma by Jane Austen (Emma can be annoying, but I loved her)
or
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (ah, the quotes are lovely, and so is the vocabulary and writing style)
Anyway, if you've read those and thought they were boring, sorry I couldn't help. I know what you mean about classics being boring, though. I read Robinson Crusoe, and...well, it was basically the dude's whole life story. It was good, but I nearly died of boredom. (No offense, Robinson Crusoe lovers)

Rosie Could anyone give me recommendations of great, long series with a strong, female protagonist? (But not the kind of protagonist that's seen as being a feminist specifically because they're great at fighting and like beating people up. I like books like that, but I feel like all female characters who are strong in that way have the same sort of personality. Like Aelin. Don't get me wrong, I love her, but it can get old.) And any genre.

I'm not sure if I can think of any books like that, but In The Woods by Tana French is basically made up of plot twists. There are so many that there isn't really one, sole plot twist. However, this book is a murder mystery with some pretty dark topics, so I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like reading that sort of thing.

Laurel (laurelstories) | 52 comments Thanks for the recommendation! And I’m really into murder mystery books

message 8: by Rosie (new)

Rosie Okay, I'm glad I could help!

Hi Emily! I think you would like (Melanie Cellier) she is one of my favorite authors! She only writes fairytale re-tellings, she is a christian and all her romance is clean!

Thank you! You can call me Harper. I have been told to read all of those, especially Jane Eyre. I guess I will. I really don't want to, but again, I need to.

I don't really read romance, unless it is more of a side note, so I can't help you, Emily. Sorry.

No problem, Harper. : )
You don't have to read those if you really don't want to, but I would recommend at least trying out the beginning of those books. (Especially Jane Eyre. What people have told you is true. At least, in my opinion. It was A...M...A...Z...I...N...G.) So, glad I could kinda help.

Have you tried reading Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum? It's really adorable, but I'm not entirely certain if there's sex or not. I'm like 90% to 97% certain there isn't. Sorry if this doesn't help.

I agree, Emily. But my mom wants me to read more classics. Lol

Harper, I recommend The Inheritance by Louis May Alcott.
It is a really good book, I loved reading it for my classic reads!

message 17: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Okay, thank you! I will look at it.

Skyscraper I recommend "Four agreements" a book one must read .

message 29: by Harper Nicole (new)

Harper Nicole (harpernicole) Fablehaven and that series, as well as Dragonwatch which is the series after. They only have two books out for Dragonwatch so far, but there will be five in all.

message 30: by Maddie (new)

Maddie (mysteria02) | 81 comments Fablehaven is amazing. One of the best series I have ever read

Just so y’all know, we will be continuing buddy reads in the month of November and trying to keep up with them. The plan is to read one book as a group each month.
So if y’all have any suggestions for what books we should look at reading in the future, suggest away!! 😉

message 32: by Macey (new)
