are we allowed to make metamorphmagi characters?

yes! i'll probably only allow a couple though just because they're rare :D

is the apparition class year round or is it still just a shorter course? and is it still via minsitry of magic, or is it more to do with hogwarts staff in this rp?

I’d say year round, but maybe students can take it either the first or second half of the year? And in canon is through the ministry but I put the position as permanent so I’m thinking they’re ministry certified but took the position full time.

since it is the marauders, maybe there's a thread that informs of the secret passageways ? i found a website with eight of them, so i just thought of it lol

also, is it alright to make a character that's a hogwarts ghost?

yes! that's a great idea, it'll go on the reference folder :) would you mind sending that link to me?

and i don't think there'd be an issue with that! i'll make a new thread for ghosts :))

does this group have a collab thread or am i just blind and cant find it? XD

@nicole: you are correct! we don’t have a collab thread because we want you guys to create characters and collab as you go, because we often see groups with tons of collabs and no activity :)

oof but usually a collab thread is at least helpful in order to keep track of what is happening like I know we have the workshop but that is hardly the same imo —- plus I mean people already throw out ideas in chat so wouldn’t it just be easier to have it in own thread so it doesn’t get lost? I don’t know, I feel like that makes it a lot harder to connect and try to figure out a character if you can’t even put them out there and ask people to throw out ideas. I mean the biggest part to character development comes through from other people. :/ And I get the whole lots of collabs, no activity thing but what happens when members can’t really figure out what to do with each other or ideas get lost in multiple chat pages? I mean collabs do more than just connect the characters but it also helps us writers form a bond with each other and get *excited* about actually role-playing and writing out these cool ideas. I mean like I said — people are already chatting and collabing in the chat, so why not make it easier for members of the group just to have a secure place for their ideas that aren’t just hidden in spoilers in a workshop?


if anything, maybe at least get a poll and vote from other members to see if a collab thread would actually be more beneficial to this group and enjoyable? I understand the concerns over it but I don’t know - it’s just my opinion looking in from the outside and as a writer/group member and for what new members looking to join might think. Cause I know, not to be mean or rude or anything just like 100% honest, I don’t think I would’ve joined if we didn’t get the opportunity to have a collab thread cause like I said —- it adds onto the excitement and fun of these groups, keeps things organized, and helps you connect better to other members.

sooo i think you might’ve misunderstood what i meant. collabs are in no way banned! we decided to take out the collab thread because this can just as easily be done in the chat and through private messaging here on GR, and we can take the focus away from the collabs and more to the actual characters and plot. usually what we’ve seen is that everyone gets super concerned in making collabs and it takes away time from actual character creation and rping. we think it’s cooler to build a relationship based on the characters, not the other way around!
i know this might not be what you’re used to, when i first encountered in a group i also thought it was strange, but i found myself making way more characters when i wasn’t focusing them all on collabs!
so far it has worked pretty well, we have tons of characters being made and in collabs, and when you talk about the community, well, you actually get to know people more when you go out of your way to collab with them!
finally, in terms of keeping them in check, the collab thread is by no means a masterlist. conversations also get drowned (like in the chat) but that’s why we have the workshop and an “official relationships” thread where you can keep a record of the relationships of each of your characters!

@iggy: i don’t see a problem with that! you mean like her closest family were muggles or she didn’t have any so she was adopted? she’d probably be introduced to hogwarts the same way muggleborns are
