According to Goodreads:
31,336 pages across 88 books read
Shortest was All Systems Red (149), longest was Children of Time (609) – both of which I enjoyed a lot
Best:
1. Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood – even more awesome as an audiobook
2. Beartown– absolutely a page turner
3. Children of Time – mad scientists and space spiders made for fantastic uplift sci-fi
4. Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating – sweet and fun
5. The Hate U Give
6. Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine ties with The Almost Sisters – I think Eleanor is another that was made better by the audiobook experience and Sisters just took me by surprise with how much I enjoyed it
Honorable Mentions:
1. Thoroughly enjoyed new installments in some of my ongoing series: October Daye, Hidden Legacy, Alpha and Omega, Hidden Legacy
2. Discovered the Iron Druid series and am now 3 books in
3. Dread Nation– loved the cover! Want to read the sequel
4. The Collapsing Empire – love me some Scalzi
The Dark Side
I was totally disappointed by Senlin Ascends - so much buzz, but in the end it was a crappy read for me.
I also read too much fluff because I was stressed and wanted not to work my brain. It just means I ended with mediocre fare than I didn't particularly enjoy.
Which brings me to the new year....
I want to read more quality stuff. On the one hand, I plan to read more widely and I shall be using some challenges to help me to that. On the hand, I am going to indulge in my favourite stuff: sci-fi/fantasy (accompanied by dry humor and lots of snark preferably).
