I'd do it if I had an eligible book this year. I'm an award junkie, with enough positive reinforcement to keep me hooked.

That sounds like good reasoning, Sacchi. I'm leaning toward not submitting. I think my new book is stronger than my first, but not what they're looking for i.m.o.

Here you go.
They seem not much if at all different from the prior guidelines. I have problems with the Lambda categories, submission process etc. BUT they do publicize their award list and a nomination (or better, a win) is a chance for publicity.

Also, you're right. Publicity is (almost) always good.
The publicity may not do much for sales, but I like to think (maybe fantasize is more like it) that being able to include "Lambda Award Winner" in my bio makes a difference.

I think the publicity helped the sales of both of my winning titles. The "Finalist" tag might not do much, except for readers who are focused on specific categories. At any rate, I'm in.

I can't. Still makes me grumpy. Stupid rule about e-books and print books having to be out in the same year, and mine aren't (I don't know why my e-pub delays the print books a year, but it's frustrating.) It's expensive anyway, since I have to buy my own books to send plus $40. Arrggh. At least I have an antho story going in this year, so that's something.

I think Lee is right - I definitely pay attention to the finalists in the Spec Fic category, and try to have them all bought and read before the ceremony. That said, I don't have a book out this year, so I just get to sit back and root for friends.

All of this year's Bear Bones Books titles are going in for a Lammy nod. Hibernation is in Gay Poetry; I believe they changed the rules this year to allow anthologies in this category. Plus we have Jeff Mann's Cub and Salvation. Not to mention Jerry's antho, The Bears of Winter, which has your lovely story, "The Psychometry of Snow" and which makes you one-sixteenth of a Lammy contender!
