Mark Ainsworth | 6 comments Hey All! Mary, Melissa, and I were talking briefly about following up on reading the next book in the "Broken Earth Trilogy" by N.K. Jemisin. The first was The Fifth Season and the second one is The Obelisk Gate. It seems tough to commit our monthly meeting to a whole series of books (trilogy or beyond) but if a small group (a sub committee? splinter-faction?) of people were interested in meeting a bit before or after our standard meeting to talk about book series it could be fun. I just finished The Fifth Season and I really enjoyed it. It was read by the group before I got involved so many of you may have read it as well. I'd love to read the second one for discussion! Let me know if you are interested.

Christina | 12 comments I like this idea! Probably won't join you all for discussing "Broken Earth" (I haven't read the first one, much less the second). But we read so many "first of a series" that I think this is an idea worth exploring. After you discuss Obelisk Gate, maybe let the group know which "second" is next. If I've read it, I'd show up early to discuss!

Mark Ainsworth | 6 comments Cool! Glad there's some interest Christina. We'll definitely let you know, but don't limit it to our decision... if you have a suggestion for a "second" definitely put it out there and those that are interested can join up to discuss.

Jay Villacis (deadfish) | 13 comments I also think its a killer idea! Would be awesome to finish up series we started.

*** I'd put forward for Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy (Book 1 = Three Body Problem) I read Book 2, it's one of the best sci fi books I have ever read!

Melissa | 12 comments I'm up for Remembrance of Earth's Past at any time now- Death's End was something else.
