Feel free to share your final thoughts here. What did you like? What didn't you like? Did this book change your mindset in any way? Did it challenge the way you think about anything? Have you taken any action steps since reading it, or do you plan to?

Jennifer Corralez (goodreadscomjmp) | 2 comments Just finished the audio book today, and yesterday I went ahead and ordered a physical copy just so I can go back over and highlight and make note cards! This book was incredibly motivating to me - I have read similar books {Atomic Habits, The Slight Edge, etc...} but for some reason, the combination of this one was just right for me.

I feel both challenged (WHY have I been settling for less??) and very inspired.

It's interesting to grow into each book on the tails of the last - now I am thinking, how can I do better, build a life I really want? (Of course I am thinking about RDPD too!) What can I, this month, put in my asset column? How can I create both some residual income, and think of building a business or life that's a better reflection of my "Why"?

I am loving this book list!

So happy to hear!! I was so glad to have the physical copy too - there were some times where I felt like I wanted to highlight entire chapters. I haven't read either of the other books you mentioned, but I'm hoping to this year. I agree, though, for some reason The Compound Effect just stuck with me - I have thought about it every day since I finished it, and that was over a month ago! It has definitely started my wheels spinning about the passive income, and where I want my life to go next. For the past few years, I've been working at a job that I do love, but was necessary for income purposes for getting out of debt/establishing savings. In the next couple of years I expect we'll be able to take more "risks" and this book really pushed me to imagine where EXACTLY I want it to go - AND pointed out the fact that I can start making tiny changes now even if I continue my current job for the time being. Glad you loved it too!

What did you like? Everything! main thing; tracking habits! LOVE!

What didn't you like? Lance Armstrong quotes haha. No; in all seriousness the only part I did not like was the part about hanging out with people who bring you down or are negative, etc. Many motivational or self help books dive into this and it always rubs me the wrong way. He broke it down into 3 categories: disassociations, limited associations, and expanded associations.

While I realize there are unique situations where someone may actually need to sever ties, I really take issue with complete disassociation with someone because they are negative or a downer! I think perhaps its better to limit this association and redefine your view of the relationship! If I have a friend who is crazy negative or struggling thru a season, perhaps I limit our association and/or think how I can better influence HER or help HER instead of thinking only about how it impacts ME. If we only associate with people who are the same as us or a higher achiever than us, then how are we helping others and sharing this positive mindset with those who truly need it!?!?! I just disagree on this one for relationships in our lives (NOT in regards to social media - he was on point there!).

Did this book change your mindset in any way? YES! I have never thought about my life regarding the compound effect and now I absolutely do. In good ways and in bad ways I have seen this very effect at work in my life. I can do more to harness my motivation and have it work in my favor.

Have you taken any action steps since reading it, or do you plan to? Yes I've already started tracking some habits (water intake, daily steps taken, morning devotion) and plan to track more and establish a solid am/pm routine!

Final note; i got this book from the library and may end up buying my own copy for future reference. Out of the 4 DFC book club books I've read so far, this one has been my fave :)
