Jenna War (jennawar) | 48 comments I will be reading this one! I’m waiting for it to transfer to my library so I can pick it up! It’ll be my first big book of the year (and low key my 1st in a longgg time since I didn’t do the challenge last year).

ㅠㅡㅠ

message 10: by Kat (new)

Kat (kittysbooksandtea) I might have to skip this months one, the library has 2 reservations on each copy of this book and I can’t get hold of it until march

Celine | stuffcelinereads (celineferrand) For all my french fellows, are you going to read it in French or English ?! I'm thinking of reading it on Kindle in French first and then buy the English hardcover book and re-read it ...

Novels and Neckties - Kira Murasaki | 6 comments Dang! I was planning on reading this when it comes out in my country, so that i can read in german, but it won´t be out before march.
when you drew the tite from the potter mug i considered reading it in english, but even though i´m capable in reading english, there is a chance i´m not quick enogh to keep up with you guys.
i´m still going to read this book since it´s been on my TBR for so long and i keep an eye open for your reviews^^
hope i can join u in march^^

Karen | 32 comments I have a print copy on hold with my library, but I'm fourth in the queue. So, here's to hoping some copies get returned quickly! :)

I'm planning on reading it first in French, if you need a buddy read when you have it in German I'll be happy to join you and re-read it in english :)

Annica (tehima1) | 1 comments In a happy coincidence I started this book a couple days ago without realizing that it would be the February Big Book of the Month.
Currently halfway through and really enjoying it! Love the main character (she’s strong but not your typical YA heroine) and it’s a surprisingly fast and easy read.

Elly | 2 comments Just saw the ebook is available on scribd! Definitely gonna start it some time next week. Anyone know if theres an English audiobook? All I can find is what I think is the German version?

message 18: by Anna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna (holdthepage) | 6 comments I read A Winter's Promise (and its sequel, The Missing of Clairdelune) earlier this month. I really enjoyed them and can't wait to see what everyone thinks! 💕

Ceyda (pondlocked) | 5 comments I started the book two days ago and Im 25% done for now. It's so easy going -at least compared to the last month's big book- The world building is very beautiful and I really liked Ophelia. I'm curious to find what's gonna happen

Kayla | 5 comments I am super excited to read this! I've never been in a "book club" before :) I just realized tho, this technically isn't a "big book" if you read it in Egnlish: it only has 490 pages, unless my copy is missing the last 10 lol. I guess it has more pages in the original French.

Madeleine | 2 comments I found the book on sale today, so I will be joining the buddy read, and it's my first time reading with other people. I am very excited :D

I bought the book in english today as well, and mine is the same amount of pages as yours, so if yours is missing pages, we will both miss out the ending :P

I just got mine from the library and I think you're right- it must be longer in French. I am still counting it as a big book though lol 10 pages be damned!

message 24: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephen_reads) Je vais le lire en français aussi! Le livre est disponible sur Kindle en langue française. Vu qu'il est écrit pour les jeunes, j'imagine que le vocabulaire n'est pas super difficile.

message 25: by Rebecca (new) - added it

Rebecca just got on the wait list.

Katie | 2 comments Oh I've been wanting to read this book, and now's the perfect chance. I'll have to hold off on reading the Grisha trilogy then (wanted to read it so that I could read KoS ASAP), but those books aren't going anywhere haha.

message 27: by mimi066 (new)

mimi066 | 1 comments i already read that book when it came out in french. I am excited to know what you will think of it :-)

♡Kayla♡ (akookieforyou) | 6 comments I just got the English ebook version, and am hopeful that I'll like it! I've been trying to read more fantasy, sci-fi etc. this year, and just broaden my horizons (I also happen to be halfway done with my first read through of the HP series!)

Christy | 4 comments So excited my library told me it's ready for pick up :) First buddy read looking forward to it.

message 30: by Dominique (new)

Dominique L'm 25% into the book

(view spoiler)

message 31: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephen_reads) I think I’m the only man reading this, haha. Hopefully I will enjoy it nevertheless.

message 32: by Mariame (new)

Mariame | 2 comments I wanna read this book so bad but I don't know if I should read it in french or english. My first language is french but I am used to reading in english. Uggghhhh such a struggle

message 33: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephen_reads) If you want to count this as a “big book” (500+ pages) technically only the French version is. The English version comes up a little short. Je vais le lire en français parce que c’est la langue originale. Je trouve que les traductions manquent parfois la voix de l’auteur.

Dominique Mariame wrote: "I wanna read this book so bad but I don't know if I should read it in french or english. My first language is french but I am used to reading in english. Uggghhhh such a struggle"

95% of my books are in English but when it's a french author, I prefer to read their book in french.

Jenna War (jennawar) | 48 comments If I could read French I would read the book in its original language, but I have a *basic* understanding when it comes to the language. (Like I was able to understand Stephen’s comment, but that’s about it 😬).

message 36: by Stephen (new)

Stephen (stephen_reads) Are you saying my French is basic?? Haha! I get what you mean though. I’d guess that since it’s a YA book, the vocabulary won’t be super difficult, but it still may break the flow or lessen your enjoyment if you don’t like running into unknown words.

Benjamin (beniowa79) | 6 comments I read the English translation back in December and I think I'm going to be the odd one out in that I wasn't too impressed with it.

Haha omg no lol!!! And yes, I just got the English version from my library, but I am happy to practice a little French by reading everyone's comments in the discussion this month!

Karen | 32 comments Library has mine listed as 'in transit,' so I should have it soon!

Sarah | 13 comments I got a copy from my library last night! I will be starting it as soon as I finish Crime and Punishment 😁

Stephanie Lives to Read | 16 comments My copy is in transit so hoping to start it soon!

Allison C (spellboundreader) | 2 comments GOT MY COPY! So ready!

Laura | 1 comments Je vais passer à la bibliothèque demain pour ma copie. J’ai bien hâte lire ce livre !

Natalya | 8 comments I read A Winter's Promise this month and liked it and didn't like it. It will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks so we can get into more spoilery discussions. ^_^

Bee (withoutwings) | 2 comments Borrowed this from my library today. Can’t wait to get started! I’m on a fantasy kick lately so this matches my mood perfectly.

Casey | 11 comments I'm a couple hundred pages in and still not sure how I feel about it! at first I found it hard to get into (I read 14 books in January, including blasting through the entire The Passage series in 10 days and feeling a little burned out as a result) and it was sooo different to the books I'd been reading (heavily sci-fi or non-fiction) but I perservered. So far, I just don't really care about any of the characters which is making it difficult to really connect with the book, if that makes sense. I'll definitely finish it, as close to halfway through a nd might as well, but unless something actually begins to happen, I doubt it's a series I'd continue with.
But we'll see

I totally agree with you. L'm 50% in and do not care about nobody in this book. I expected something more exciting but so far nothing happened that made we want to see what happens. I'll finish it, hopefully it gets better near the end.

Natalya | 8 comments Dominique wrote: "Casey wrote: "I'm a couple hundred pages in and still not sure how I feel about it! at first I found it hard to get into (I read 14 books in January, including blasting through the entire The Passa..."
I felt the same way when I read it. Even though I haven't read book two (because I can't read French), I feel like the author could have combined the second book with the first book in some way. It took too long to get somewhere in book two and ended when it was just getting exciting. I think I will read book two once it's translated, but if it's pacing is similar to book one, then I'll DNF it instead of making my way through it.

I do hope if I do end up reading book 2 it won't drag as much.
